Is a unit of 12 Phoenix Guard with full command and Banner of sorcery a nice little block to stick a level 4 with book of hoeth in?

Played my first 8th ed game yesterday and was given some good tips to create a decent list im just looking for a collective opinon

I would suggest a larger block of 14+, that should be 5 wide.

Strangely their have been some people pointing out a really funky idea for Phoenix Guard to make them scary good anvils, unless you roll like crap for leadership.

3 wide, with full command, a BSB with the Crown of Command, this gives you a stubborn unit only 3 wide, oh and they can't attack the Noble, since he is in the 2nd rank. Your wizard could be deployed in the second rank of that same unit, and as long as you use Direct Damage spells, Hexes, or Augments, then your fine.

In 7th edition it would make a great place to stick your mage. Nowadays, phoenix guard are worth more than points denial, they want to be stuck in, whereas your mage doesnt. Ive moved my mages off to sea guard/searmen for the time being.
