View Full Version : How do I resolve "All models in unit take a stat test"?

Okay, so this came up in a game the other day. What happens when I cast a spell that requires all models in a unit to take a stat test or die/suffer some other mishap? Specifically, what happens to characters? The shooting rules are ambiguous, and could be read to give the characters a "look out sir!" roll. The problem is that they say "only for templates" so I'm not sure about it.

If every model takes a test, then every model takes a test. If the character is a model, then it takes a test. If not, then you wasted your points, cause only models can fight in combat or cast spells.

Nothing else comes into play.

You take dice and roll them. Pretty much what Bac said.

So that does mean no "Look out sir!" roll is permitted. Thanks.

Indeed, no "Look out sir!" roll.

Why would you get a look out sir? What about the rule makes you think you should get it? Whenever you're wondering if a rule applies, ask that question and you'll have your answer.

So you should individually roll for unique models in the unit, like characters or a different troop type? What about command groups - would you roll individually for each of them?

I would roll individually only for any characters in the unit and for the champion, all the other models would be identical, unless you had a mixed troop unit of course.

Multiple colours of dice are your friend.

There's no point in rolling separately for a standard bearer or musician - the rules explicitly state that if they die a rank and file model will fill their place.

"SIR! SIR! The ground is opening up beneath us!" *Leaps in the way*

*Both fall to their death*

Indeed, but you knew what I meant :)
