Hey guys. Did a quick search and couldn't find an answer for this exact question.

When you choose a mark for a daemon prince, do you HAVE to also take that patron's lore, or does it just become an OPTION.

The wording from the book " Daemon Princes of Tzeentch, Nurgle or Slaanesh May use the Daemon Lore of their respective patron. Others may use the Lores of Fire, Death, Metal and Shadow".

Thank you

Daemon Princes with a mark have only one option of lore.
Others (non-marked) have those 4 choices.

Thus a Marked Daemon Prince does not have access to Fire, Death, Metal and Shadow.

^ What he said, although it's Fire, Death, Shadow, and Heavens. Not metal.

In the Daemons army, the Prince gets metal. In the Warrior army, the Prince gets Heavens.

Now that is interesting

From the Warriors of Chaos book:

...if he has a Mark of Chaos, must choose from the Lore appropriate to that Mark.

The Daemons of Chaos book was quoted above. Either way, a Daemon with a mark uses the Lore of his patron (unless he's a Prince of Tzeentch in a Daemon army with Master of Sorcery).

It is true that there are differences between a "daemonic" daemon prince and the WOC daemon prince. But as has been quoted in the original post, in the daemon book there is "may" marked princes may use their god's lore others may use the other 4. Now to me, "may" seems like an option....

Nice option that is :p

Use either his gods lore, or no lore at all :D
