So does high magic (and the other army specific lores) have attributes like the new 8th lores do?

No. Attributes are only for the BRB-Lores, at the moment.

most likely they will just repeat what is already in the spell description in the HE book.

Indeed - that's what happened with the deamon cards.

And the beastmen cards.

Let me make this as clear as possible:

There is no hope whatsoever of any book lores in current books being updated to look like an 8E lore. GW has had an opportunity to do it with the FAQ and didn't do it, and they've had second chances with the cards for Beastmen and DoC and didn't do it. GW does not want to do it. Period.

High magic (and Dark Magic for that matter) don't have attributes, or signature spells for that matter.
With that said, the races themselves get bonuses: High Elves get Drain Magic and +1 to dispel; Dark Elves get Power of Darkness and are able to use an unlimited number of power dice.

i was disappointed that they didn't update the codex lores. i was going to buy the high magic cards to see if they did but if they didn't on the other 2, i'm sure they didn't on the high magic either. disappointing really. less incentive to use the high magic and more reason to stick with life, shadow, and death.

I don't know, +1 to cast and drain magic aren't that bad bonuses for sticking to High Magic, however Lore of Life does come a close second - I prefer one with each in my games. I will be buying the HE cards too just for reference - my army book can be left open on the wargear pages then to save flicking through every turn.

Fixed.
Also they get the dispel bonus just for being High Elves, not for specifically using High magic

So does high magic (and the other army specific lores) have attributes like the new 8th lores do?High, dark, and all the other book lores have the trait; Low casting value Some spells from this lore have unfeasably low casting values due to the developers being unwilling to spend any time readjusting them for this edition.

Go flames of the phoenix or black horror on 2 dice...

The High Elf player gains the Drain Magic Spell -
if and ONLY if they choose the lore of High Magic.
High Elf army book pg.46 2nd column, 2nd paragraph

High Elf player only gets the Drain Magic Spell if and only if he chooses the Lore of High Magic. Pg. 46 High Elf army book.

Edit:
Sorry for the double post... Warseer didn't show me the first one.. Looked like it timed out on me..
End Edit..

Thanks - wasn't paying close attention to what I wrote, and I should have made the second part clearer that it applies to all lores. Drain Magic is good enough for me.

Not sure about the others but in a way the WoC spells do and did before 8th edition as you need to have the specific mark before you can take that lore.
Although we do need to pay extra for ours.
