A previous client got in touch a couple of months ago and said "have you seen the new Casetus Asssult Rams?"

"Yes," said I. "Lovely, aren't they?"

"Well, I'm going to send you two of them."

So, here's a plog to track my progress with these two lovelies. The client also sent me a sample mini of his Space Wolves, which are apparently painted with Adeptus Battlegrey and Codex Grey, for me to refer to to check that I matched the colours properly.

I've got a few WIP shots to show, but I'll add some more, illustrating the different stages of construction because, in order to paint the interior, I had to assemble the model rather differently to the way it was described in the assembly instructions.

Parts:

Dry-fit (and basecoated):

That surely looks great!

Nice clean colors. Have you painted the interior? And made Pics of it?

Will you add chipping and weathering or will it be fresh out of the forges?

I can't believe the model comes with a detailed interior. Can you even see inside beyond the first inch or so?

Painting looks really nice and smooth (nice industrial stripes too). Did you use an airbrush?

There will be some weathering, but not shedloads. I've painted the interior, although not to a display standard. There's a limit to what you can make out through the doorway!

EDIT - @spaint2k - I used an airbrush for the basecoat, but have handpainted everything else.

Looking good. I wonder if it will keep its rules as written in the "experimental rules" sheet.

Is there a way to remove the missile boxes on the wings without cutting them away? (in other words, are they separate parts?)

looking good mate, still not sure about the actual models, but the paint looks lovely.

Cheers

@Vertias/Aequitas - No, the pods are one piece with the wings. You can see them in the extreme left and right of the first image.

@sheep - For my part, I'm a big fan of these. There's been a lot of talk of "flying Land Raiders" with respect to the Storm Raven, but the Caestus is a true design hybrid between the Land Raider and the Land Speeder (I can't help but wonder if this was the rumoured "third STC" discovered by Arkhan Land), with clear references to both vehicles in the design. The presence of the AG plates staves off the questions over its ability to fly (unlike the Thunderhawk).

I'm not sold on the rules, with respect to the design, though. If you were going to embark upon a ship designed to literally smash its way into enemy ships and vehicles, would you want to travel in the actual battering ram?

It will look great painted, but I have to agree with sheep. This vehicle has a bit more Star Wars design than it should have. I know it is still Empire, but it is not same.

It flies!

This is Tanngrisni, the first of the pair. Not quite finished (needs more detail on the lights and a bit of tidying up on the base), but she's nearly done. Her sister, Tanngnost is making very good progress and I'll have some photos up in the next couple of days.

Typically, now that I've taken what should have been the final photos, while I was editing them, I noticed that I'd not quite finished doing all of the lights. However, that aside, these are done:
