atm i have a unit of NG Spears 6x6 for easy facing really lol spin lol, however i really want horde so my plan is:

2 x 50 NG 10 files x 5 ranks (with netter of course)
1x 30 NG bows (with 2 fanatics )

yey on ney bigger / smaller

It is a balanced O&G army and my 2000 point army is not quite finished soo i'm quite flexible

Do NOT put night goblins into horde formation with only 5 ranks.

You will get owned in combat and broken once they ahve mroe ranks than you.

If you have 50 night goblins run them in 10 ranks and add heros with great weapons for punch (and nets of course).

The bigger units are better, but horde formation is pointless unless we are talking about 100+ (I've done 150 :D).

In 7th I used Night Gobbos in 35-strong units, 5 wide by 7 deep. I think that's still a good, viable way to use them. Hording up with a unit that won't get that many kills anyway? Not worth it.

i might just have another second 6x6 or indeed a 5x7

oh and a 7x10 movment tray, try sticking the 2 units together

If you want to go 10 wide for Horde have AT LEAST 70 models. This allows you some leeway in terms of casualties, and as Malorian said, 100 never hurt :)

would that not get owned by war machines at least if they are wide and not too deep a connon would not do so much dammage? and no i don't have them yet, i just have 20 with bows an 36 with spear and sheild finnished

Ironically horde formation supports 1 attack elite troops better than lower quality, lower armoued troops.

Wider NG just means my guys get more attacks. Chances are you NG don't want to make that trade. Only go wider, if you're troops are better at hacking and slashing.
