Gents,

If I run a unit of Slaves into an enemy unit, then I fire a Warp fire thrower into the back of the Skaven Slave unit, and it does not make contact with the Enemy unit, will it still split the damage it causes by the die roll (1-3 Friendly, 4-6 Enemy)? It seems a bit cheesy(No pun intended), but am just starting Skaven so want to be certain.

If the answer is yes, I see why we see more slave units now then ever before if you add in the General and BSB rules.

Thank you for any polite responses.

No, templates hit what they hit.

You no longer randomise the hits at all as per the FAQ.

also just because you can shoot at a unit that is engaged in combat with slaves, it does not give you permission to purposefully hit the slaves with your own templates.

Does the Slave unit obscure LOS to the engaged enemy? Does it give the engaged enemy cover?

Yes to both those questions.

Depends, and yes. Strict Sight-Blocking is gone. You see what you see. Cover is given.

If you one is fireing straight BS based missile weapons into a unit engaged in combat with slaves over the heads of the slaves, they get hard cover penalties. If one is not fireing through slaves but still at an engaged unit, there is no cover penalty, as they're not in cover then. Templates can't be intentionally placed onto slaves, so you gotta move warpfire throwers a little to one side of the combat to melt faces. Poisoned wind globadiers can always fire into any combat they want to. So basically they ony thing affected by the hard cover the slaves' asses confer are :
Characters with missile weapons; throwing stars, postols, and rifles
Gutter runners, night runners, and clanrats with slings
Jezzail teams, ratling guns, and poisoned wind globes if for some reason you have them directly 1 inch away from a slave unit with only 2 ranks (as their thrown weapon range is amazing.)
Skaven template weapons can't purposefully put the template over friendly slaves.
