The description of the spell states that a unit hexed by this spell treats all terrain (except impassable)as dangerous terrain - does this include open terrain?
While at first I thought this is one of those RAW issues, but the description of the spell says that the target is being assailed by spectral claws rather that the terrain itself.
Not to mention impassable terrain is specifically excluded but not open terrain - just an oversight on GWs part? (Wouldnt be the first time)

rulebook page 116 defines open terrain and excludes any ingame interaction. So no tests for open terrain.

I disagree, it states that it treats ALL terrain as Dangerous Terrain. Open ground is 'Open Terrain', thus is a Terrain so becomes Dangerous Terrain. It doesn't exclude ingame interaction, it just says that it's grassy fields, etc, so doesn't have an effect on units. 'It doesn't affect the game so doesn't need further detail'.

some possible reading:

the general consensus from those threads is yes, open terrain is affected. You can read the full arguments in the thread but it basically comes down to open ground defines itself as terrain, and the spell effects all terrain ergo it affects open ground.

Yeah , it does seem to work on open terrain, and you dont have to be affected adversly if you really dont want to.
Looking at the spell blurb, its not people tripping over stuff, its more like they get shredded by claws as they move...maybe might be a way to get houserules on giving MR saves to auto kill spells and stuff.
