This has probably been asked before but, does a VC army still need a Vampire to be the general? The FAQ states ignore page 88 "choosing your army" and that removes the rule Vampire must be your general. Am i looking at this right?

Nope Vampire must still be the General. As far as the faq goes GW Screwed up by eliminating that tidbit.....................

If your gaming group wants to read it as such then playon but as a whole GWs not prefict and prone to mistakes like this.............

Vamps no longer have to be the Gen. A screw up would be fixed by now. they have re faqed 2 and left it in.

Doesn't prove anything, they could merely not have been notified of it.

Anyway, no Vampires currently do not have to be the General.

Regardless of intent or corrections or lack of corrections or whatever other reason people want to not play by the rules, vamps are indeed no longer required to be generals. I don't know why people try to interpret what the developers were thinking when they wrote the rules instead of discussing the actual rules.

Because half the time RAW doesnt actually work for a full game?

Or perhaps because were told to change whatever we like, to interpret rules, to come up with house rules... by the rules and the developers?

There are times when RAW are ambiguous or when the break certain elements of the game. This is neither. Vampires do not have to be the general.

That was the case in previous army book: for example, necromancer could be general (and they could be upgraded to lv4).
Maybe developers want more choices to be general of an undead army. Maybe not.
Developers thinking is not easy to catch. So please, play the game with the rules as they are and not as you think other people are thinking.

It could be an oversight, it could be intentional, but either way it's perfectly fine and actually quite fun to be able to have an undead army without a Vampire to lead it. All this does is allow for additional theming opportunities!
