Do GW still hold those mad sales where they sell gear at stupidly low prices?

I remember one about 6-7 years ago - must have spent 150 on 400 of parts!

Not since before the deal with New line I'm afraid...

I'd actually question the 4 years ago bit... seems like a lot longer to me, although there's nothing to stop independants holding a sale...

I've recently seen quite a few sales - in independent shops closing out their GW stock because they won't carry it any more.

Just changed it - yeah it was in 1999-2000 if i remember correctly.

If i remember at the time they had closed alot of european stores and this stock was surplus - alot of the stuff i bough was priced in DM (german).

Shame really :(

Any in the manchester area "most"?

:sigh:

Back in 94, I started work in the GW store in Derby. Shortly after, we have a massive clear out of really old stuff...which i really wish in hindsight i'd have bought it all (seeing current prices on eBay)

Egs are

Man O War - 12.50
PLague Fleet and Sea Of Blood - 7.50 each
MOW Box sets 2.50

Fury of Dracula 5 (sold my 1 copy for 30:D)
Blood Royale 2
Judge Dread - 2

boxes of metal Stealers - 5

and so on...

happy days :)

I think the last GW clearout was Feb 2001. And yeah, I miss them too.

Nope, no more sales. GW now recycles old models instead. A couple of weeks ago GW London, prepared* a significant number of "old" models for recycling.

*remove packaging and put in big plastic bags :D

are they doing that because people are interested in the old models again, or they just want to mllk every mini for more cash.

By "recycling" I think they mean melting down and casting new figures.

lol oh. my bad. but I noticed that on the UK site, the tallarns are being reused. did they remake those or just using old models.

using old models - it's a joke.

charging 20 for a model thats been out 10 years - plus when it came out it was only 10 for the box set! What a rip!

well, I guess people are interested in it again, or they just want to make more money which is why they would charge more. and new gamers might think "oOoOo, new minis" and buy them.

I think there are some new Tallarn figures on the way - I seem to remember seeing cool-looking rough riders and other figures like tallarn heavy weapon squads in a cabinet what seems like an age ago now. Possibly the box is being re-released as a lead in to these new figures.

Will they be releasing them this year?

Forget what I said. They are unfortunately Forge World figures and are very highly priced.

Here's a link: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/TALLARN.html

The good news: They are out

The bad news: ...

I bought an entire ork fleet for BFG for 12.

a pound a blister. someone wiped them out of chaos, imperials and eldar so I started an ork fleet!

Never played with it once, but...
