So I want to use some barrow wights for my angmar army but the models from gw are so damn expensive for a company of them. What do you folks think of me using vampire counts graveguard with the skeletony bits painted blue and etheral like for barrow wights? And does any one have any other alternative models/conversions?

The Mantic Wraiths (http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Undead/Wraiths/Product/Undead-Wraiths.html) would make good proxies, and at 13.99 for 5 come in a lot cheaper than the official models (although you would still need two boxes for a full company)

Those look cool, though I'm personally not a fan of that color scheme.

Personally I'd avoid the tomb kings - as with most WFB models they're a bit flashy and exaggerated to go side-by-side with most of the LotR range.

The Mantic wraiths do look like a pretty good alternative. You could also possibly skate by using warriors of the dead, although I'd definitely recommend a little conversion work and definitely a different paint scheme to differentiate them from any other spectres or dead thingies in your army.

I've used the 8 Gondor dudes from the Last Alliance box set and greenstuffed ghosty floatyness over their legs.

why just modify the dead legion plastic warriors?
