Well I have to say after checking the Newline Imagery, I believe GW finally got an Ent right. The Beech isn't far off the mark at all. All I had to do to the plastic mini was drop the shoulders about 5mm, lengthen the fingers a little and add whiskers and a creeping vine. This is the first time I've compared pictures so I think I may need to add a few extra branches. I notice it has also been sculpted with the mouth open rather than shut, but I can live with that. I like it. It's one less Ent for me to sculpt for the Entmoot.

The above photo isn't the best as it is was taken at night. The model looks very white here when it is actually rather grey. Here it is in the daylight:

I've also finished converting a Linden Ent to a more aggresive pose for battling:

Here it is next to the original version. I went for a slightly browner paint scheme this time around:

So that joins the converted Birch that I did a while back:

So including Treebeard I now have 5 different Ent variants. Four more to sculpt. Fir,Ash,Oak and Rowan.

In the meantime I've doubled up on some and have 9 Ents painted:

Incidentally, the Birch Ent on the far left of the bottom pic is now on Ebay for anyone interested.

This was the original model I sculpted back in 2007 (as featured in the sculpting article: http://www.one-ring.co.uk/kb.php?a=122 ) before I was persuaded to sculpt a similar one to start up Majestic Bear Miniatures by the online community.

Wow, you actually make the GW ent look good.

By and large I can't stand GW's plastic Ent model. Which really sucks, I've been waiting for a plastic treeman fig for years, but I want something like the WFB Wood Elf Treeman.

Yours though looks good, and your scratch built ones look great, I especially like your Birch ones.

Is an all ent army possible in the game? If so, how well does it play?

Strictly speaking, in WotR, an all Ent army is not possible as the forgotten Kingdoms are specified as being used for allies only.

That said, I have never heard of anyone having a problem with one. In fact, most of the time when the subject gets brought up people strongly encourage it, they did use on in a White Dwarf battle report once.

As for how it would play, I would think such an army would have some serious weaknesses without any infantry to soak casualties, (to say nothing of the spells and Fates that have enhanced damage vs Ents specifically.

Again, all that is specific to WotR. I have no idea about SBG.

Ugh, really? The old GW ents were just like the WHFB treemen; ugly!

Also really liked this guy, and he was dirt cheap when he came out, little large though.

ukfreddybear's version of the gw plastic ent is the only one I've seen though that is at all palatable.
