I'm planning on buying some Furies next month so I can start playing Chaos armies other than Tzeentch or Undivided (I refuse to field an army without mage/warmachine hunters).

Since I've never used them before, I'm wondering what you guys out there feel is a good unit size for the flying buggers. Knowing that up front can give me an idea on how much money I'll have to spend on them.

Usually people say 5-9 or somewhere thereabouts.

In all the lists I've seen, a unit 5 or 6 seems to be the way to go...although I am toying with the idea of 2 x 5 in a Beasts army...

Aren't Furies a 0-1 choice? Or is that different in a Beasts army?

Ah, now you see that could be the flaw in that plan....I didnt have the book with me at that point - I fear you may be correct...doh...

Still, 5-6 seems to be the norm anyway...

5 seems a bit fragile for me, so I'll probably go with 6.

What you could do, Crube, is take a unit of Furies and a unit of Screamers for double the flying fun...

Wouldn't work if you play Nurgle or such though.

It was predominantly an Undivided list...Iwas trying to avoid Screamers though, for the sheer reason that I have 2000 points of Mortal Chaos which is entirely Tzeentch, incuding 4 screamers...

Ah well, back to the drawing board...

Also, on the subject of Furies, a unit of 5 still needs to have 3 killed to reduce it to half strength (for VP purposes) Can be worth considering if you're short on points...

Yes, but I usually play against dwarves, so they'll actually need to be able to pack a bit of a punch to take out their war machine crew, since those little buggers are tough and usually pass their fear test just fine...

just get as much as your points can buy if you want to be sure they do their job well. Any sensible opponent will use thier warmachines to shoot at your furies, so 5 is a bit on the cheap side..

I use them all the time in a unit of 8. You don't want them bigger though, as they they can be too easy to pin with charges etc.

They are always 0-1 in all armies EXCEPT in a Daemonic horde army. you can have as many as you have undivided characters. (say you have a herald and a prince that makes two so furies become 0-2):D
