View Full Version : Battle Psyker Squads. How did you do it?

I'm building an IG (Renegade/Chaos) army that features Battle Psykers pretty heavily but I'm pretty stumped on how to demonstrate them on the tabletop, so I'm asking what people have done to represent them, what do you use, what have you seen being used?

My army is a converted force based on plastic Cadians and I'd like to use the Cadians as a basis but I need to demonstrate their difference from regular troops in an easily recognisable way (paint aside).
I did consider both Crypt Ghouls and Flagellants but neither can be satisfactorally converted to suit my purposes.
Any and all suggestions and ideas are greatfully recieved.

Depends if you want to stick exclusively with GW, as i've seen some great ones made from the Mantic Ghouls (http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Undead/Ghouls/Product/Undead-Ghoul-Regiment-with-Ghast.html)

I would like to see those, as the Mantic Ghouls seem to be more appropriate for Rogue Psykers to me.

My psykers are represented by a guardsman sergeant with a hammer and a book as an overseer, the three metal sanctioned psykers, and 6 flagellents from the box.

I used soviet gas-mask heads from Secret of third Reich. My fluff behind my PBS is somewhat different from the rules but I don't care about that so much. Anyways, it's that the overseer is the main psycher, and the rest of the squad are merely psychic vessels to garner energy from, thus they are pretty mind-less. This is to decrease the risks of succumbing to the warp and is still a method under development.

So basically I use cadian bodies and legs, gas-mask heads and then catachan arms since they are bare and can be used in a bit more different ways and differentiate them a bit more as well. The overseer is mainly cadian bits but also a bit other bits that I had lying around.

WIP on the vessels can be seen in my IG log in my sig while the overseer is done.

I used the old early 2nd edition Adeptus Psykers with huge heads and fancy duds. Ebay is a wonderful thing. :)

For my AdMech (IG codex) Battle Psykers I use FW servo-skulls with trailing piping to connect them to bases, and have one of the FW renegade Psykers (the 'levitating' one) as the squad leader.

Empire Flagellants work very nicely. Good kit.
