View Full Version : Champions - Magic Item Situations?

Hey guys, just had a few questions pop up in my head when trying to make a High Elf list regarding Champions.

1. If you were to give for eg. A Sword Master Champion the Shadow Armour, what would happen. He can't leave his unit can he? So would absolutely nothing happen? Or can you have a random Sword Master champion scouting around?

2. If for any reason, a champion has a better armour save than his peers, how are wounds and attacks allocated? If enough damage is dealt to kill the whole unit, including him, even though he didn't get to make his armour save what happens? Does he survive as if he was a character in a unit? Or do you have to allocate attacks against him originally? Does the extra armour become a waste and he's simply removed?
Same goes for any other items you could give him like re-rolling the save, getting a 2+ vs fire and you're getting hit by flaming attacks. Would the wounds wipe out all the unit, then the champions take a 2+ save against the excess wounds?

Thanks in advance.

1. The champion is not an independent character so gains nothing (except heavy armour...) by taking the Shadow Armour.

2. If the wounds are allocated to the champion directly he can try his better save. But if the wounds are spilled over from the rest of the unit he dies without getting to take his better save. Yet again, he is not an independent character.

Okay, that's what I was thinking but just needed a clarification. Thanks.
