......In the older edition this was a fool's errand causing it to toll and then "who knows what?". How does artillary randomize for the bell and seer in the current edition, and does it ring like it used to?

Thanks

Its specified in the Skaven army book, page 42/43 (the pages about the Screaming Bell)

I play dwafs, I was hoping a skaven player would be kind enough to clue me in.

If a cannon shoots and hits a seer/bell, both models (parts) are hit. Work out wounds for both. Both get a ward save. Do not randomize the Bell hit and try to make the cannonball hit the seer twice.

This has started many looooong debates and after all the smoke clears, this is usually the result. I am not going to be that guy so that's all I'll say on it.

cheers, thanks. I'm not trying to re-hash loaded questions. I was just curious about if the ball causes the bell to ring.

If you take a wound from it then yes it does ring. Anything st5 or greater.

If you shot the Bell with say an Organ gun, then shots are 1-4 Bell, 5-6 Grey Seer. When it is hit with Str 5 or greater and wounded it will toll, and the toll will only be 1 dice.

Except that the randomization for the Bell/Seer is actually 1-5 Bell, 6 Seer I believe.
