So, I've just finished building my first 1000 points of Dwarfs (with the exception of heroes cos I aint got 'em yet). Here's a few pics.

I've got the day off work tomorrow so I'll make a start on painting them and post more pics.

Will you be using the Mantic rules or using them in WHFB?

And do you have anything to scale them next to?
I have been looking at these but I don't know how well they'd fit.

I will be using them for Kings of War. On the far left of the pic of the Ironwatch, there is a Skull Pass Dwarf that I'll be using as a paint scheme tester, the Mantic dwarfs are slightly taller than that but better proportioned. I'll take a better scale pic tomorrow.

I shall be watching this log with interest :) Always good to see some more mantic project logs.

How much work do the movement trays need to fit mantic figs? I have a horde unit of skelentons in my army. I've yet to play a game, but I dont fancy pushing 40 skellies around without a tray :p

Comrade, those are the modular movement trays from GW (shudder). They can be made to fit practically any size unit.

Now I feel silly :p although in my defense, I never got into warhammer fantasy. cheers :)

No need to feel silly Comrade :p I've done a quick tester for the army colour scheme, I'm quite pleased with it

So, today didn't go exactly according to plan (it never bloody does). I did make a start on my first troop of Ironwatch though

Just waiting for the devlan mud to dry and then I can get on with highlighting. These WILL be finished tonight and I'll update when they are.

I am happy to consider these done for the time being as I will do all of the bases at the end. Next on the desk are a regiment of Ironclads and an Organ Gun.

These Dwarfs are looking really good! I like the colour scheme you've chosen for them, it's very striking.

One thing, though - drill out the barrels of the guns! Particularly the Organ Cannon, as it's more noticeable on that than the rifles.

You're right, I will do that asap.

Really nice scheme dude. I'm interested to see how the shieldbreakers come out. I'm thinking about picking them up for my Dog of War army. I had heard that mantic scales a bit funny with GW (not that I'm using much of it, mostly Perry) but from what I can see the dwarves look good next to the 28mm GW one, size-wise that is.

Also dude what colours have you used on the leather for the gloves and boots? From what I can see it's two different browns and I'm interested in stealing their secrets :D

Thanks for the comments axel. The gloves and boots are both vallejo model colour, gloves #875 beige brown and boots #984 flat brown. Both have then been washed with devlan mud.

Haha absolutely brilliant, you know what, although I have never used them those are the only two VMC browns that I have, perfect and thank you very much.

I like that color scheme! One thing that stands out is the different colors on the bases and movement trays, also on the warmachine. I'd stick with that grey base, just my opinion of course, as something about you scheme makes me picture them just walking out of their underground city, and the grey base reinforces that.

alexh

The grey bases are unfinished, they will be the same as the organ gun when I'm done.
