Brilliant stuff, mate! Makes me long to play Fallout 2 or Tactics again :D Really loving how everything looks.

I myself have no greater interest in the west coast.
My first Fallout game was Fallout 3.
And may I say that it's the best of them. The west coast is a bit too civilized for my taste, with laws, taxation and NCR.
I therefore have mostly East Coast based forces, pretty much random raiders, Muties, ghouls and soon BoS :D
I could post a pic of my so far only started mutie, if that would be of any interest?
Cheers, Hrokka.

I've been in Fallout since the beginning and live in the area where 3 is set and I couldn't disagree more. I'm biased, though :p If you haven't played FO1 or 2, it's a much less civilized West Coast. New Vegas is more FO3 in that it is a direct sequel to the first two games and what you are seeing is a progression of the events from FO1 and 2. Which is probably why I didn't like 3 so much, as it was disconnected from the previous two canonical games.

Man I'd love to see you making the Mid-Western Brotherhood.
Ya know, BoS consisting of both Ghouls, Muties and humans, along with being the only ones with vehicles in the entire game series :)

Technically, you have a car in Fallout 2. You just don't get to drive it like you do in BoS :p

Hoping to see some more soon. Maybe they'll be a Cain from the brotherhood of steel ps2 game?

We don't talk about that one :shifty:

You may have covered it elsewhere (apologises if so!) but what ruleset are you using for this project? or is it purely modelling?

Think the Fallout universe would really lend itself to a nice wee RPG campaign for a few Vault Dwellers.

Check out Gamma (https://www.wizards.com/dnd/Product.aspx?x=dnd/products/dndacc/254600000) World (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_World). Very obviously influenced by Fallout. The one link is to the current version of the game which is inferior to the first and second editions (which used the AD&D and 3.0/5 rules, respectively, as a base).

Also, I think a lot of people don't know about this, but, there was a Fallout p&p RPG:
161172
Just before production, though, they had to lose all connections to the Fallout universe, however, when the rights to the Fallout Series were sold to Bethesda.

Also, there is Fallout: Warfare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout:_Warfare) for tabletop skirmish style games.

I'm subscribed to Vault Wiki on The Facebooks so I get all their updates. Can be quite handy when they post stuff like that. :D

It does mean I'll have to get my act in gear and finish my Great Khans and Raiders before the new game comes out and I get more crazy ideas...

emperorpenguin
10-01-2013, 08:18
What are you using as Great Khans? Most 28mm biker models are sculpted as fat guys!

Catferret
10-01-2013, 21:22
Making my own out of Catachans and a load of green/brown stuff. Have decal paper that I'll print the Great Khan logo on to. Easier than freehanding it.

emperorpenguin
10-01-2013, 23:03
Catachans!? That's genius, never thought of that! I've got a sprue or two of them lying about!

Catferret
11-01-2013, 07:49
Remove the pockets on the legs and sculpt on the leg armour. Smooth out the jacket things. Add some fur here and there. Job's a good 'un. The Catachan Command work well as their arms and stuff are a more reasonable size.

OMG NERDGASM :)

This is so cool im going to steal the idea, kill you all and make it my own :P

Seriouly dude, i hink this is one of the best plog's out there, its unfortunate I cannot add you to rule number 6 (to many characters and lines), but you are in my heart.

Now got to dust of fallout 3 and order me some minatures to start my own fallout game :)

Keep up the good fight!

Afraid I don't know for sure yet, it was only posted today from the Philippines. Once I get it in a few weeks I'll take a pic alongside the Enclave figures

I just learned today that the company that makes this is offering a smaller version at 70% of the size for €30 less. Had I known about that, it'd perhaps have been a better fit.....

Cheers guys. Yup Deamon-forge, I've always used Crooked Dice minions as Vault Dwellers but hated the single pose. Love the mixed poses they now provide!

cpl_hicks which guys are you using? Kolony militia?

Oh yeah forgot to say where the models are from!

Y-17 Crooked Dice astronaut with optional skeleton head. Veteran Ranger by Brother Vinni. Frumentarius is a Taban model for Eden.

Chinese troops are Crooked Dice minions. Protectron by Brother Vinni. Merc by Taban.

White Legs are Crow Dogs models from SOTR by Westwind.

Vault Dwellers and Powder Gangers are Crooked Dice minions.

The jet is a Revell Grumman Panther. I was checking ebay for 1:48 scale 40s/50s jets but they're all around €40-50. Then I found this kit in my charity shop! :D

Impressive conversions and miniature finds. I really like your enthusiasm and the collection of minis from a vast number of companies. Love the fallout games myself so it has been a trip down nostalgia lane looking through your log - for that I thank you.

First off I want to say your stuff is gorgeous. Secondly I want to share something I just saw that might make some great super mutants with a little bit of conversion work; Mantic's new ogres (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/kings-of-war/posts/496396) for Kings of War. There are a few pictures on their KS update and they just scream super mutants to me. I've yet to see a good picture of their trolls to get a clear idea of the scale for them, but there might be some potential there as well.

Loving the new editions mate! For some reason im dying to see some scorpions though :) In fallout 3 and new vegas they seem... Less then impressive

Thanks guys :) Lothlanathorian - I've had an urge to play some more FO3 but discovered that my level 30 character saves aren't loading!

Thanks Vlad, I've got some of those Ogres coming since I backed that Kickstarter but I'll be using them in KOW, I don't need many Super-Mutants

Yep Demoulius, I take it you've not played Old World Blues? Y-17 Trauma Override suits are essentially a type of pre-war ambulance designed to carry wounded/dead soldiers back to base, fighting along the way. Needless to say in the Fallout world they malfunctioned......

I did one scorpion model back in the first few pages of this, may get around to another if I can find one which isn't over-priced

Lothlanathorian
09-06-2013, 22:46
I'm actually about to get Old World Blues and The Long Road. I have the other two. And, don't worry about your saves, it's just FO3, no big loss :shifty:

:p

emperorpenguin

Old World Blues is a ton of fun :)

I absolutely loved FO3! That was the game which introduced me to the series.

So next up I need to assemble my Fiends....

I started from the beginning. I've probably logged more hours in FO2 than most people have one any three other games combined :p

I was looking for some artistic advice, and I figured this would be the best place to go for it. I'm working on some minis for a Fallout RPG, and right now I'm putting together some Super mutants in various sizes. The one I'm working on right now is a Master:

184411

and I was originally going to give him a stop sign for a melee weapon. But now I'm not sure (octagons are hard) and am considering other options.

So I'm looking for suggestions as to what other type of sign (either informational or advertising,) I could use to give that "Fallouty" feel. I considered a Nuka Cola sign, a'la the Nuka Breaker from New Vegas, but I wanted to put some other minds on the subject. Please help me with some ideas.

emperorpenguin
04-01-2014, 08:46
Not a sign but an easy option would be a chunk of concrete, like a rebar club in New Vegas

Or a road sign? Highway # or road distance to nearest town?

nedius
06-01-2014, 15:41
If you are still working on this, I found a way to make some pretty good centaurs that are about the correct size. One sprue of Mantic zombies gives you all the bits you need to make a reasonable sized centaur. You can get the sprues for £2.99, or a regiment of 10 sprues for £20.

You do need to be confident with chopping and repositioning arms, and there's some greenstuff work to be done, but all in all they are very easy, and quite satisfying to make. Will try to upload and message you a pic.

emperorpenguin
06-01-2014, 18:17
Definitely let's see what you have done!

ephrael
06-01-2014, 18:40
Have you thought about using some cork and wire to make a chunk of pavement/concrete on the end of the club? Like in the tutorials for bases. You could put the torn up ground at the business end of the weapon and the sign under the hand. Make the sign smaller like a street name or something .

Cultist of Sooty
06-01-2014, 18:43
Hasslefree miniatures do an etched brass set of signs, including a stop sign:

Ewokskinner
09-01-2014, 00:19
I like the 'inverted road sign' idea. And I was also looking to do a centaur using spare limbs from the bits box! (and plenty of putty.) I will post when I have updates (probably to my own plog, since I realize I might be breaching some netiquette hijacking someone else's (sorry, n00b mistake.)

The manufacturer "Ätztech" has a couple of these: http://www.pk-pro.de/index.php?k=18

Other than that, due to the bulk nature of the figure and the heroic scale, i´d probably use plastic card as it would fit better instead of the thin etched brass.

Ewokskinner
11-01-2014, 13:32
Yeah, for plastic card, I use the sample credit cards that American Express keeps sending me to convince me to open up a credit card. I have about a dozen now, and they are good quality plastic for modeling, but you can only use them for small pieces, as there are raised numbers in the middle. Used up gift cards however...

Hi guys,

This is my first post- I've just registered. I have been reading this conversation for a couple of years now, and I notice it's slowed down to a large extent.
I noticed a Facebook post by Bell of Lost Souls a few months ago, and decided to buy the product they were reviewing- a post-apocalypse game called 'Across the Dead Earth', set in Britain (but with a planned expansion for the US, tentatively titled 'From Sea to Poisoned Sea').
I really like it, though I don't have an active tabletop gaming group at the moment- it's a lot like the old Necromunda or Mordheim games, in that you have a gang, equip them and level them up, and advance them through 'missions' or games.
They also have a few small gangs of miniatures, which I really like.

It occurred to me that it would work quite well for the kind of game you've been running here, whether you want a small squad of tough, experienced warriors with heavy armour and weapons (Brotherhood/Enclave), or a rag-tag bunch of survivalists, or a bunch of cannibals with dogs (Fiends), or pretty much anything.
At this point, there are no 'creature' rules, but it's certainly achievable.

The main site is: http://www.deadearth.co.uk/
but they're much more active on the facebook site.
Just a thought, hope it might be of any use.
I've loved seeing the content come up on this discussion, it's been great, and I've really enjoyed seeing your modelling and painting efforts.

Cheers, Luke
