Hi,

I've never played an RPG before, although I'm intrigued I have no idea how it works. So I've got a couple of questions.

Could someone tell me summarily how this works?

Do I need some kind of rulebook to play?

How time consuming is this?

How do I join a game?

This comes from someone who has zero experience with any RPG whatsoever.

Could someone enlighten me please?

I'll try to answer as much as I can in Fat Italics here.

You make up your own character, and post in the IC thread what he does.
Do I need some kind of rulebook to play?
Not as far as I know
How time consuming is this?
One post a day is enough, but you can do more. It all depends on how quickly you read and type.
How do I join a game?
Sign yourself up in a recruitment thread.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Though how do you know what you can and can't do?

Are the rules lain down by a GM?

And what's an IC thread?

Thanks.

The GM usually tells what the vague idea is, and plays referee in case of things going wrong.
Are the rules lain down by a GM?
Yes.
And what's an IC thread?
'In Character' The recruitment threads are usually 'Out of Character' or OOC

Hope this helps.

To your question in the halting the tide in character thread.

OOC means out of character.

his is when you usually say something that is you talking and not your character. It is better to post these things in the other halting the tides thread as this would prob be the thread to talk about the rpg and how it is going
