View Full Version : Skaven assassin vs Khazrak

Interesting situation last night, not sure how to rule on it.

Skaven assassin with magic weapon attacks Khazrak, whose items nullify magic weapons, so it is treated as mundane.

If a skaven assassin attacks with a mundane weapon then he can get
(a) an extra attack (additional hand weapon)
(b) poison attacks
both of which are disallowed if he is using a magic weapon.

So can he take advantage of either or both of these in this situation?

(If yes, I killed Khazrak and had a crushing victory; if no, he killed me and claimed he salvaged a draw. My opponent was my brother, so it is vitally important!)

I'd say yes, as he no longer has a magic weapon, and it is treated as a mundane weapon of the same type.

Seeing as it would be treated as a mundane weapon, and a mundane weapon in such a case would have poisoned attacks and an extra attack, I would say you would get those attacks.

Indeed. The Assassin must use his additional hand weapon (this counts as a special weapon) since his nullified magic weapon counts as a mundane hand weapon.

Page 89 of the rulebook "close combat weapons" 2nd paragraph clearly states that if a magic weapon is rendered useless the warrior will then use any special close combat weapon he is equipped with.

Thanks one and all. I do believe you've given me the ammunition I need!

An overwhelming victory for the rats!
