Hello all. I have recently moved out of GW territory to embrace two new games: Firestorm Armada by Spartan Games (plog (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314318)) and Infinity by Corvus Belli. I've decided on Haqqislam, but could not decide between the Bahram and Qapu Khalqi, so I'm starting a combined force. Much of it will be proxied for models that I like (because there are oh so many that are quite nice). First up is the Khawarij. Though universally disdained for its rules, the model is fantastic, and he will be serving as my lieutenant, which is usually a Hafza in smaller games or Saladin in larger ones.

I have a Hawwa waiting to be done, but I'm splitting my time between this and my Sorylians, so if I'm inactive here, check there! I'd love to hear any comments in either place about others involved in Firestorm and Infinity.

Finally, a Nasmat remote I'm working on, made mainly of extra Tau bits

First to post! :p

It's refreshing to see some infinity guys from time to time, and with a striking colour scheme. I'm an haqqislam player, too (sadly infinity didn't get too much followers in my gaming club so I only played a couple games) and I went with a more classic brown/green scheme for the two guys I finished :p.

Regarding the paintob, the khawarij seems a bit under the painting standard of the hawwa, mostly because the white doesn't seem too clean. I also think you may obtain lining between the white armour parts (and above all on the khawarij chest/torso) with a lighter shade of black (:p): a very dark grey should give a less striking but still harmoniuos contrast.

I'll follow your progress with interest

Hey, nice to see some Infinity on here. ;) Cought your signature on the Infinity thread and thought I'd have a look. That sure is a different colour scheme but it's so great to see the models painted in a different colour scheme as on the official pictures. Really changes the mood of the models. Yours look menacing as all hell. :D

I have to echo Toschenko - the white on the Khawarij looks a bit less polished as on Al Hawwa. I really can't wait until I start doing my first Infinity mini.

For the bases I guess you're going for some sort of floor panels I assume?

I'll take a look at the white again on the Khawarij. The Skull White has Bleached Bone under it, so maybe too much of it is exposed. I'll add some more straight up White. I'll also do a watered down coat of grey on the chest armor and see how that turns out.

Yes I thought the red would be a nice departure. Again, I'll look at the white on the Khawarij. And yes, you guessed correctly that the bases are supposed to floor panels, grey and white separated by blue. It is a bit hard to tell from the head-on view.

Glad to have some followers! I should have an Asawira, pair of Ragiks, and pair of Naffatuns arriving in the mail any day now, so keep an eye out for those. Until then, here is the finished Nasmat with the Hawwa and Khawarij:

Sorry mate, image isn't showing for me :(

On the nasmat remote: it is really a clever conversion, I still prefer the look of the original one (since it's sooooo cute :p) but yours is well realized too. And its paintjob is the best looking one among the three... seems like you'll have a shocking army if made of enough pieces then :D

Sorry about that - he should appear now...

The original is cute (not as cute as the new ALEPH Yudbot but how could it be?).

Here is the gang so far, including the female Naffatun, second WIP Nasmat (originally Fanous til I realized those had to be large), and Ragik with HMG.

You're painting them at a very good pace, and maintaining an acceptable quality - congratulations indeed!

The asawira is your best paintjob so far (at least the one I like more), but it could still be improved. I'd suggest you to push lights a little furhter, mixing maybe some yellow to the colour you're using for the brighter highlight. You could also try some deeper shadows mixing a little black to the base red and glazing with that.

Also, the naffatun weapon is, IMHO, too dark and black: you should pick up some detail in a contrasting colour, or at least in metal. Speaking of black, since you're doing black robes, I'd suggest you to use a 2-parts Charadon granite/ 1 part chaos black base, highlighted adding more charadon and shaded with glazes of badab black. It's the easiest recipe I've tried for black, and gives interesting results.

It's perfectly ok to have a good painted army in a reasonable time, and this is the way you're following (with profit, I have to say) - but since there's always room for improvement, maybe you should try to paint one piece (or two :p) to a better standard just for the sake of it. Should you be willing to try, I'm here to give you some advice (if I can :))

Either way, keep up with the good work - and if you need inspiration, this is the blog of Angel Giraldez, the official painter of Infinity for corvus belli, sporting some better and multi-angle pics of all his works.

I will take a look at the highlighting again - I'm not totally happy with it either. I'll try to shade with black for sure.

I will work on the Naffatun some more - the weapon looks particularly black because there is a black WIP Nasmat behind her. I want to avoid using metals in the army though - I don't think it is becoming for cyberpunk personally - I may touch it up with some white.

Do you have any examples of the black you used? I'm interested in trying it out. Right now I highlight black with (I think) Codex Grey but I'm not looking at my painting kit right now. I only have that one grey, so perhaps I can do some 'medium' areas of the cloth with a mix of grey and black. Same thing for the weapon, but I want it mostly black (like a 'real' assault rifle rather than the squirt guns that other factions have).

I'm definitely open to suggestions and I frequently go back to revisit 'finished' models. I'll try the yellowish highlights - I fear they will be too bright and deter from the red, and I have trouble getting lines so thin. Thanks for the great comments so far.
