Hey All:

This happened in a recent battle Wood Elves vs Vampire Counts.

117558

Crypt Ghouls had ASF from Van Heels, killed the Wardancers. Eternal Guard then did a boatload of damage, like +10 for CR including Flank, Charge, +3 Ranks, Banner and BSB.

Is the Terrorgeist still part of the combat? We said no because his target (the Wardancers) died and he never got a chance to attack otherwise all that juicey CR wounds would have blown him up.

Thanks in advance.

See "No More Foes" at the bottom of p.61: the Terrogeist is no longer in combat and you can't claim the flanking bonus for attacking the Wardancers in the side.

Indeed. Units that drop out of combat because all enemies in contact have been slain no longer contribute to combat resolution, except for the wounds it may have caused.

Notice that the unit that drops out can be considered to have "won" and may be eligible for an overrun move or a reform. This holds true even if his friends that are still engaged in close combat lose the combat.

Thanks for the responses Mr R and T10. On the next turn he elected to charge a unit of Glade Guard farther down my line with the Terrorgeist rather than attempt to clip the edge of the Eternal Guard. He failed that charge and a unit of 20 Glade Guard killed him with their 2nd salvo of 20 shots.
