View Full Version : My first WHFB list (Veteran 40K player)

My first WHFB list. We are a group of 4 who each bought a batalion. The idea is to build a 1500pts list with all the units in the batalion and add Lord&Heroes + 1 Rare. Here is what I came up with. Please point out anything illegal. The list comes up to 1497pts.

HEROES
Saurus Old Blood+Shield [Obsidian Blade+Armor of Destiny] - with Warriors
Skink Priest lvl2 [Feather Cloak+Dispel Scroll] - with Skinks

CORE
Saurus Warriors x20 Champion+Musician+Banner
Skinks Skirmisers x15 Javelin+Shield+Brave

SPECIAL
Temple Guards x10 Revered Guardian+Musician+Banner [Wailing Banner]
Calvary x8 Champion+Musician+Banner [Totem of Prophecy]

RARE
Salamander

Id swap the scroll for the Diadem of power. You wont be casting much magic (as heavens isnt that good a lore)

Also, have you considered a Slaan? Magic at smaller levels is brutal, and a slaan would really give you dominance over the magic phase.

Old bloods are good, but, its not like 40k. Combat charecters arnt as useful. Wizards are where its at.

BSB's are also useful. And since your Slaan can take one, he fills two niches.

The only issue is, 10 temple guard wont protect him. Youd need to find some points to get them up to at least 16, preferable 20. You could do this buy dropping the two expensive magic banners you have. Fear and terror aint that good in this edition. Especially when your spending 7% of your total points cost on it!

Also, i find you dont need more than 5 cold one cav to be effective. There flankers with lots of mid-strength attacks. Dropping 3 of them would net you some more pts for slaan and temple guard.

And, drop 5 of the skirmishers. Give 5 of them blowpipes, cut off the tails, Put dots of greenstuff on the eyes and pinprick them, and yourve got 5 converted chameleon skinks.

Playing my first game in a few hours at local store. They have a beautifuly painted Slaan for sale. I'll grab it.

LIGHT looks like a good choice. Birona's Time Warp (double move!) seems very good for slow units (saurus and warriors).

Yep, pretty much what most people use in saurus heavy army. Ws10, I10 saurus, anyone?

And why have you got a luckstone on your slann?

I've posted up my list for a 2500 game I'm having at the weekend (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317933) so maybe that will give you some ideas. No one's given feedback on it on the forums, but I've run it past a friend who said it looks fairly solid.

I'll certainly look at it.

Today : Not shure about the Cold Ones Cavalry. Managed to stall 20 marauders for 3 turns. Did 10 kills but got flanked by a Chaos Spawn which killed my 5 guys in two turns. For 225pts thats not enough.

A would maby run two sets of two salamanders (300pts). Freeing up 75pts for Cameleon Skinks. OR run a scar-veteran in the saurus warriors.
