View Full Version : Tomb Kings Giant

Hi all

As I understand now GW deleted Giant from Tomb Kings Army book.
But I still have old metal one (TK version)
My question is quite simple - can I use this giant as Hierotitan or/and Necrolith Colossus on tournaments?

The Tomb kings giant is the Hierotitan/Necrolith Colossus.

I suspected that but do they had to have some WYSIWYG details?

Well its pretty simple - the old "Bone Giant" model is the model for a Necrolith Colossus with 2 hand weapons. If you wanted a Colossus with alternative weapons then you'll have to do some converting :)

Personally I imagine the Hierotitan to be more like a wizard - rather than a hunched over huge skeleton with checkers board style armour plating! This project log shows a good idea for a conversion (if you can find suitable legs):

you could add a plasticard staff in stead of one of the swords and adorn it with leftover bits from the sphinx kit, and maybe replace the giant's head with a sphinx head if you want to make a really cool and unique Hierotitan, although I suppose that the intention with the giant kit is that the head with the skeletal-hat-thingy makes a Hierotitan while the bare head makes a collossus.

If you read the text in the tomb kings army book page 51 (in the little box titled "the war of statuary of nehekhara") it tells you that bone giants are necrolith colossus.

Anyone found any Egyptian looking giants not made by GW?

crocodile games makes a wonderful animated egyptian statue, which judging by the pictures looks almost exactly as tall as the TK giant...

I looked there but couldn't find it - do you have it's full name or code

The perfect Hierotitan for people who do not have the time needed for conversion.

Reaper miniatures got a skeletal giant that I think is quite good:

also this guy:

I think had the Jason Wiebe one a while back. It's closer to Minotaur than Giant size IIRC.

Considering a Hierotitan has scales in one hand and a staff in the other I'm not sure any of these suggestions is suitable...

A model of the real-world 'godess' Justice would be most suitable. You'll need to do a weapon swap of sword-> staff (complete with hieroglyph of the sun) and a headswap to fit the likeness of one of the Nehekaran deities

I'd consider such a conversion WYSIWYG. If you want a GW base figure Nagash from the collectors section with a head swap and sword->scales swap could work. You could also try swapping out the arms of a wingless, stingless necrosphinx to carry the sunstaff and scales.

Bonus points for coolness if you manage to convey the fact there is a mummified body of an ancient priest interred within the statue's chest.

for a Hierotitan

can't get onto it at woirk :(

look for egyptian figure
maybe add Black to search

I got a couple that cost me 2 each, they are about 5-6 inches high, one looks like a cat faced god, the other has a more human face.

No weapons as such but look quite cool, and for only 2 each worth a gamble i think

To reinforce my previous point I feel it is kind of important for such models to carry the appropriate equipment (Icon of Ptra and Scales of Usirian) to differentiate it from other large target models (particularly the colossus). Without this equipment the model is a proxy.

For a Heirotitan, there's always classic nagash:

However, I really like the idea of converting something with the Necrosphinx torso

Fortunately for me all my large target models are GW models and so don't suffer confusion with a large person type statue.

I don't have enough time to PAINT the stuff I have, never mind start converting :)
