Hey all, i have started working out how many points you can make from each box GW sell for your fantasy army and was just checking if im allowed to post this as it contains point values and such?
Also would people be intrested in seeing this?

Thanks :)

As long as you're not too specific on the point values, I think you'll be ok (how do you factor in magic items though?)

I'd love to see it

So far i have only done WoC and havnt done heros, for magic banners ive been using the most expensive one they can buy for the kitted out value and none for the naked points value.

Do you think i should do heros and how should i work it?

Probably do a basic unequiped value and then fully loaded (maxed out) and go for the "this kit can make a model(s) between X and Y pts per "

I see no problems as long as it is about a points range, min/max.

Also, the new "champion" will be the Mangler squig. 50 for a 65 pts. unit. Try to beat that. :shifty:

When you set a challenge like that...

Skaven slaves (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440085a&prodId=prod1040488) - 62.50 for a unit between 40 and 46pts (min 20 in a unit)

Uuuh, those slaves are sold in batches of 5 ... so that would be 50 euros for an unit of 20 (but your point values are right) ... yes, the picture is misleading :p

Still, even at those outrageous prices, it's better than 50 euros for a single model (that may or may not be cut in half).

ON TOPIC : I would also like a "points for cash" comparison ... but I think the results will be horrifying anyway, the GW hobby has been expensive as hell for the last 15 years ...

Fair enough. But they have a reasonable alternative in the form of a plastic box. By the letters you are right though. :D

@shelfunit
Thats what ive done so far with core special and rares but ill do the same with heros and lords then :)

@darnok
Nothing in the WoC list has that low a ratio, lowest average is trolls are 3.26 points per pound

Also can someone tell me how to upload an excel file or shall i just post the same information here without a table?

Finecast Vampire Counts Knights are pretty ridiculous. 120 CAD or something, though they're probably at least a couple hundred points.

Save it as a *.csv file, then rename the file to *.txt. That should work.

Click on "Go advanced", then scroll down until you see a button called "Manage Attachments". That will allow you to include it with your post.

Ok sorry im being thick now.
I keep changing it to .txt and all it does is add .txt to name while keeping the old file type
I use windows 7 if that makes any diffrence.

You need to enable extensions for known file types:

Open any window (my documents for example) and click 'organize' in the top left corner - then click folder options

Click the 'View' tab, then untick Hide Extensions for known file types

you'll be able to delete the .csv and change it to a .txt now.

What about using a google doc? means people can add to it. Have a page for each currency as well?

My personal favorite was the old metal Chaos Warhounds, where I ended up shelling out in the region of 40 for 60 points. :)

The Current DE Hydra is only running at 4.375pts/.
Not as low as those metal warhounds 1.5pts/ but still pretty poor.

Goldswords run at what, 5pts/?

No idea how easy this will be to make out but here you go, the WoC points to pound chart :)

Ok its not very easy but if you copy and paste that into excel it should automaticly put itself in a decent easy to read format :)

Sadly doesn't work well for Excel 2003. I tried copying it in or simply opening the document from Excel. Still, pretty interesting to see. Thanks for posting!

Glad you could make it out :)
It shows that for a cheap WoC army you want warriors kitted the the teeth, knights and sigvlad :D

It would probably do alright too!

Did you include non standard conversions for the values?

For example, the Warrior kit only comes with hw/shield or xhw options. It wouldn't take much effort to make GWs or xhw+shield though they would be conversions. Realistically you can't get halberds out of the standard box without a conversion kit. How did you handle this?

Tbh i never thought of it as my group isnt WYSIWYG when it comes to the equipment of a model so its just using what ever equipment the units can bring in game.
