The Hellcannon. Or Gorbad Ironclaw. Those two are equally superb models, though I think I like Gorbad a little bit more...that's what a Warboss should look like!

This constantly changes for me...

But, right now, Gorbad Ironclaw I think. Reason being, I always like him in pictures but then when you get the thing assembled for real you realise how big he is; a great, dynamic pose too.

It's already been mentioned but this model is just what an orc warlord should be - great fig!

The old Wood Elf Lord on Dragon. Got me into this game sixteen years ago and I still love him now. I will even get round to painting one, one day.

That is easily the best dragon they ever made :D Shame my model is missing a tongue and the lord's lance :/

As for "best looking model" the most recent model I've come across is queek headtaker.... unfortunally now its in finecast it is ruined :/

He does indeed and is my pic for best figure ever.

Razorgor...

Just kidding.

The guys that got me to shelve my 40K stuff were the 6th Dark Elf Executioners and cold one knights with marvel super villain headpieces. If I had to pick a single favourite, it would be the exie with his axe-sword held high above his head.

Green Knight or Be'Lakor

I couldn't seperate it if I tried

For me. He just looks the business.

The fact I have him and with a DHW and potion of Strength he always has been super killy for me helps too!

But I could do this for every army I have, there are so many. Although Herioc pose looks frankly mutant next too more realistic ones, Games Workshop can claim to produce some of the best minis in the world, there are some really great figures.

Too many minis I love to decide.

This.

For O&G I would say: Skullmuncher, old fanatics,... Sorry can't decide there. Let's try dwarfs: Bugman, dwarf lord on oathstone,... again no choice possible.
VC strangely now I would find it hard to put one on the same level, but I do like the range as a whole.

streetsamurai
27-11-2011, 10:44

find it's a very average miniature. Maybe it's because I hate the GW paintjob and never seen it unpainted,

Personally, my favourite is Thanquol. I love the classic skaven models and i think he's the best. Or Skrolk. Or the Vermin Lord. Also, the Orc range has some great models. = )

Pansy elf, would look better with a beard.

My favorite dwarf models: Bugman. Dwarf lord with greatweapon (as above). Limited edition Standard bearer. Metal Longbeards.

Odin
27-11-2011, 16:05
Mine would have to be the last version of Chaos Knights. Not the current plastic kit, the old metal ones with plastic-bodied steeds. They just look so cool.

Anything with an absurdly oversized weapon does not look cool at all.

It's been pretty hard to decide, but it's probably this one (even though I'm not a WoC player) for me:

Brilliant, unusual pose. Nothing dramatic. Passive while still maintaining an air of power.

My favourite in this thread so far.

Empire captain with pistol and hammer......just oozes maniless and flash....

27-11-2011, 19:53
Empire Greatswords!

But for single model, I agree that the Chaos Lord on Mount, as well as Juggernaut is really stunning! The High Elf Lord is also great, as well as some of the Wood Elven ones. Another Great HE model:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440060a&prodId=prod900129a

This Tomb King is nice:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat570032a&prodId=prod1160073a

But overall I have to go with Okuto here:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod1190022a

These two are some of the best as well:

Really, really hard to choose ... I started this hobby some twenty years ago, and if I remember correctly, what drew me in were the Dwarf Slayers ... there were tons of different poses back then :p

Right now my current favorites are the Gnarly Cave Squigs (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat500019a&prodId=prod1160169) and the "old" metal Fanatics (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440079a&prodId=prod1120026a), but I've been in a "Night Goblin mode" for the last couple of years ...

Oh, and not in fantasy, but the original range of metal Space Wolves that came around 2nd Ed 40K ... got all of those stashed somewhere ...

Robotlord
27-11-2011, 20:38
This guy by Llew, who is based off the Dwark with a great weapon. Actually, any model done by lew on his maneater log.

baphomael
27-11-2011, 20:47
Hmm, its a very tough choice, there's so many awesome models out there. The Empire and Dwaves have some wonderfully characterful models, Orcs have the ossumly badass Gorbad Ironclaw, chaos has that uber cool greek-on-a-boobworm lord, the badwing vampire is all kinds of cool.

But I think I'm going to have to go with either Be'lakor - fantastic model and one of the best daemons GW has sculpted.

Alternatively, the Khorne Lord of Jugger is fantastic. That juggernaut looks mean as hell, and rider just oozes menace.

27-11-2011, 21:16
For me its the following

This is number 1 due to the fact the sculpt was about 10years ahead of its time and even by todays standards it still can hold its own

The Great Spined Dragon:

That thing is an absolute beast of a model. I'm lucky enough to have one and it's my pride and joy.

I've always had a thing for the old Vlad and Isabella von Carstein models although I know a lot of people hate them:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1140291
The old Manfred is good too. I just think the new von Carstein models are hideous.

I find a lot of the newer models are better and more cleanly sculpted than the older ones, but end up either bland or caricatured. This has a special place in my heart, though:

I agree, with the dwarf lord with great weapon, Chaos lord on daemonic mount and Gorbad. Those are amazing sculpts really.

I have to put a vote on the waywatcher lord and the WE Highborn with great weapon. Those got me a huge WE army wich is completelt unplayable. Thanx GW sculptors.

If it counts, then the Empire Wizard Kit

If not, then definitely Prince Althuan or the blind Eltharion

I'll prolly be in the minority but I'll have to vote for the lowly Ungor kit. it really is a great looking kit and captures what an Ungor should look like, compared to the old metal Ungors.

I'd say this is impossible to choose just one....

I love the boobworm rider model, in 6th edition I have fond memories of him with the berserker sword and enchanted shield, he could take on entire ranked (non-elite) units by himself...

Be'Lakor is many kinds of awesome, as are many chaos sculpts, the hooded sorcerer with scythe throwing devil horns is one of my all-time favourites

The dark elf executioner champion is probably my fave dark elf model, although the 6th edition 'upright' assassin runs him pretty close

the warboss with squig from the BFSP box is fantastic, as is the current edition skarsnik model. I think the valten on foot with twin hammers is pretty sweet, and I love the bretonnian knight musicians too

the wood elf glade guard in the direct-only range is badass, and so are most of the wood elf characters too (although I'm not keen on the 'spell effect' spellsingers)

I love the new and the old Ikit Claw models, as well as the IoB weapon teams and rat ogres, not to mention the doomwheel.....

So yeah, there are about 50 models which could easily qualify for the title for me, just depends on my mood..... :)

Anything with an absurdly oversized weapon does not look cool at all.

I have paired about 15 of those knights on the new plastic horses and they look awesome!

Definitely Gorbad Ironclaw (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440021a&prodId=prod1160143a&rootCatGameStyle=), Wurrzag (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440021a&prodId=prod1120024a&rootCatGameStyle=), or Queek Headtaker (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440022a&prodId=prod1160067a&rootCatGameStyle=). I think the standard of the mins that GW is realising makes it hard to choose one individual.

For me its the following

This is number 1 due to the fact the sculpt was about 10years ahead of its time and even by todays standards it still can hold its own
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat500022a&prodId=prod1140289

However I think i still love this and agree that model was amazing when it was brought out and as you say still holds its own. I was just thinking has will no one mention Heinrich Kemmler. :)

One reason i came back to Fantasy was the new Vlad min, which is perhaps the only decent min GW have done for VC (apart from Manfred, and the winged vamp).

I love this for wood elves tho http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440114a&prodId=prod1160057a very powerful pose.

I would also like to suggest this http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440108a&prodId=prod1550008 I donít play WOC but this guy makes me want to, the facial expressions are immense and ooze vanity and bearly controlled madness.

That is easily the best dragon they ever made :D Shame my model is missing a tongue and the lord's lance :/

As for "best looking model" the most recent model I've come across is queek headtaker.... unfortunally now its in finecast it is ruined :/

The old wood elf dragon was awesome, i finally got round to painting itearlier this year. Must be over 15 years since i got it... but it was so worth it.

Has everyone forgot about Chakax? I'll assume everyone is just naming the second best model.

BELAKOR

Be'Lakor

No other mini need apply.

Be'lakor - fantastic model and one of the best daemons GW has sculpted.

Be'Lakor I remember reading was the fan's fave model.

I see a recurring theme here... :shifty:

For me, it's... ...Hmm.

BE'LAKOR!

Sorry, it's just the best miniature I've ever bought from GW.

Cheers,
Goatee

bottom left guy (http://www.solegends.com/citc/c23ogresbwd100.jpg)

Original model that I thought was so great it always impressed me. He was called Skragg in a long ago book.

For me it's this guy: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440030a&prodId=prod580015a.

Understated but still the ultimate badass warlord overlooking the battlefield after his troops have exterminated another Empire village :D

Khorne Chaos Lord on Juggernaut as well as the metal Dark Elf Executioners are my favs.

The current plastic Daemon Prince. I like model so much that I kept it when I sold my Chaos stuff, just to display. I also liked it enough to make it my avatar!

I throw in my vote for the third representation of Valten, although all of them are pretty epic.

I wish I could get this fig (http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb137/Fortress_miniatures/Tsar1.jpg) for less than $100.

Come on, his mount is a bear. A bear that attacks enemies. :chrome:

Belakor is in my top 3, with Grimgor and my all time favourite this Dragonslayer:

It's a tricky question. There are a lot of fantastic models, like Be'lakor, Marius Leitdorf, Deathmaster Snikch and so on.

Right now i'm in love with the Stonehorn though:
