Huhu peeps,

I've been spending a lot of time lately by painting a Dark Eldar force (blog here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306217). But now that I've painted up about 1000 pnts of Dark Eldar I do feel I miss my Luna's!

So to break the Dark Eldar habit a bit I've descided to spend some more attention on my Luna Wolves again. After going over what I've got already I've descided I need work on the following things:

Sergeant banners and standard bearers in each squad
Finish vehicles by adding iconography, weathering, etc
Finish MK1 squad
HORUS & The Mournival
Battle damage & weathering on all infantry
Buy new awesome Contemptor Dread

I've started out with adding a banner for Squad Locasta and in the back you see what will eventually become Horus.
They both still also need a lot of work on the NMM and the reds :)

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/Tactical_13.JPG

I've already got about 2500-3000 pnts painted up, but usually play around 1700 pnts battles. My total force consists of about:

2 Captains
2 Squads of 5 Justaerin Terminators
1 Squad of 10 MK1 Thunder Armour Tactical Marines
1 Squad of 10 MK3 Armour Tactical Marines
2 Squads of 10 MK4 Armour Tactical Marines
2 Squads of 10 MK4 Devastators
1 Squad of 10 MK2 Assault Marines
2 Predators
1 Landraider
4 Rhinos
6 Droppods
2 Landspeeders
1 Jetbike
Various unsorted/unboxed marines

I've got some pics of what I've got sofar:

The group pic! This will be the army I'll be taking to the GT (except for the Captain, I'll run Cassius as an HQ instead, counting as a Lodge Master ofc!)

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/terminators_21.JPG
The Justaerin Terminator Squad! The gold is recently added, but they still need a lot of work done on the reds/blacks and details

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/captain_01.JPG
A still to be named Lodge Master will lead the Justaerin... The captain is OUT ;)

Continued...

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/MK1_24.JPG
Sergeant Talonus is the sergeant of Tactical Squad Pithraes. Like Locasta it's a 10-man squad with a missile Launcher and a melta gun. Sergeant Talonus is equipped with a powerfist.

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/MK1_25.JPG
Only the oldest of warriors still wear the armour from the unification wars. The squad recently received a newer Rhino though

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/MK4_02.JPG
Sergeant Xavyer leads Hellebore tactical squad. Just like Locasta and Pithraes, Hellebore goes to war in their Rhino. Xavyer wields a powerfist himself, but also makes sure his squad has a missile Launcher and meltagun available at all times.

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/assault_09.JPG
Reaver Squad Thagort consists of 9 reavers, 2 wielding flamers. Sergeant Mehrkast leads this squad into battle, wielding his powerfist and meltabombs

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/assault_10.JPG
Still need some colors on this unlucky one though...

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/predator_01.JPG
Predators Maronar and Valoc deal with any infantry the enemy is foolish enough to leave in the open. Their autocannons and Heavy bolters bring the Emperor's light to all corners of the galaxy

C&C Always appreciated ofc!

Very cool army. I like it a lot. Lots of cool FW bits and a nice paint job. I also really like the justinian terminators. Great attention to detail all round.

Very very nice mate. I particully like the long haired Talonas. Exactly captures my image of the LW. (which I guess is from the cover of one of the first 3 HH novels). And nice conversion work on the front panells of the preds

Huhu,

Thanx for the comments peeps :)

I've been messing around with pigments a bit. Though I'm not completely happy about it yet. I have 4 Rhinos, and they are all still clean as a whistle!
So it's time to add some chipping/dusting/weathering etc...

I tried weathering on one of the Rhinos, but I haven't added chipping yet. I think I overdid the weathering on the front, though I'm quite happy with the top.
How can I improve on this?

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/Rhino_03.JPG
Sides are allright, but also need more work I think... perhaps I've added too much here as well?

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/Rhino_04.JPG
Overdid it on the front I think...

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/Rhino_05.JPG
The top seems about right to me tbh...

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/standard_bearers_01.JPG
AHHH... Standard bearers in MK4 and MK1 armour! Getting there...

So much old power armour marks... Delicious!

As for the weathering, that depends entirely on what result you want with it. Right now, it just looks too patchy, not shiny enough to be mud, and not transparent enough to be dust or sand.

If you're going for a sandy or dusty look, I'd suggest making it a bit more uniform, and a bit more transparent, like the tank has driven through a desert. The dust particles on the crannies of the roof look good, though.

Your army looks really cool. I particularly like Sergeant Talonus and your terminators really stand out, I like their shields. I think the weathering would look better it it was restricted to the edges of panels like it is on the roof.

Huhu,

Thanks for your reply! :) I do love all the old power armour marks! The dust is indeed a bit too much, I'll fix that up in a bit :)

Huhu,

Thanks for your reply! :) I've done some more work on the termies some weeks ago, I'll make sure to post some newer pics asap :) I agree on the weathering bit, I'll fix that up as soon as I can!

Huhu,

Thanks for the reply! The NMM's are my first try, but I'm quite happy with how it worked out! The seals on the termies are their Oaths of Moment. As the Justaerin belonged to the first company and are THE veterans in the Luna Wolves I figured they have long honourscrolls :)

I've done some more work on my standard bearers! I also have to make an MK3 standard bearer, but here is some more work on the MK1 and MK4. Both aren't done yet but I hope you guys will like what I've got so far :)

You can't really see the MK4 dude, but trust me... he's there...

http://home.planet.nl/~Waesb014/Warhammer/standard_bearers_06.JPG
MK1 dude up close, I still have to do some work on the shoulder pads and his left leg and some other bits... and ahh... He needs a head! :P

Great army! Nice to see some Luna Wolves, it seems like SoH is the era of choice now so I think Warseer needed this (especially when the quality is as good as yours). Eagerly looking forward to more!

These are so awesome would love to see an update

An update?? Sure!!

Dutch GT is coming up again! Every year I say this'll be the last time I take my marines, but every year I end up buying more goodies to show off!!!

What I've got on the 'ol workspace is the following:
http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/workspace_01.JPG

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/workspace_02.JPG
Recently I got my greedy lil' hands on quite the ammount of bikes & attack bikes. The grand total of 30 bikes + 5 attack bikes pushed my army to the 7k mark, still going strong! I'm currently waiting for my FW order to pre-herefy these bikes.

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/bike_01.JPG
I've already gone ahead and put some MK3 & MK4 on the bikes I have, and I have got to admit that MK3 on a bike looks BAD-ASS!

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/contemptor_01.JPG
MR Contemptor, a work in progress, but getting there... I might have overdone it a bit with the chipping on this guy.. but ahh well..

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/rhino_09.JPG
3 Deimos Rhinos, 1 Deimos Pred (magnetised ofc) and 4 converted rhinos... These recently all faced my airbrush and chipping!

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/Rhino_06.JPG
Chipping experimenting! Hairspray + hot water works like a charm

Mark 3 standard bearer. All my units will get a standard of some sort, makes them pop a bit more. ( and also increases their chances to get popped unfortunately)

Lastly! Some army shots I made about a month ago...
Not everything is in the shot unfortunately, I seem to be short 3 Rhinos and 5 termies, but ahh well...

Great looking army here! I just got a Deimos Rhino and Predator myself, at what point did you put the tracks on?

I'm a lazy git! I glued the tracks on before a single drop of paint touched the Rhino. IMHO they don't really need to be seperated for painting at all. Especially when you start weathering.

Huhu,

New pics!
Managed to get some work done for next weeks tournament.
I'm painting everything at once, assembly-line style... currently getting high on 'White Spirit' fumes! :P

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/warhammer/contemptor_02.JPG
Some work on the Contemptor. Dirtied him up and went with a black helmet, figuring they probably only put vets in dreads. Fluffwise this guy used to be in the Justaerin, thus the black helmet.

Same on the Rhinos... now they are dirty, chipped and somewhat banged up.

Huhu peeps,

I've done some more painting this weekend! :D
I have 5 Cataphractii Pattern Terminators and 5 Tartaros Pattern Terminators still laying around, collecting dust!

Figured I'd start painting myself some of those Cataphractii, bringing my painted Terminator to about 20.
This is this weekend's progress:

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/terminators_23.JPG

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/terminators_24.JPG

http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/terminators_25.JPG

I really dislike painting black armour, but still these models are a lot of fun to paint.
They still require a lot of painting, mostly highlighting on the black/gold finishing up the reds and loads of detail work. I'm also painting up some bases for them, so I hope I'll be done with them about this week.
The Claws will be done with the airbrush, and will get some OSL on the rest of the armour.
Everything is magnetized ofc

The Tartaros have received some new shoulderpads:
http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/terminators_22.JPG

Also all eagles etc have been cut off, not looking forward to painting them tbh... too many black parts :(

And to accompany them, their little buddy in white! :)
http://home.planet.nl/~waesb014/Warhammer/librarian_01.JPG

Just started on him, so he still needs like A LOT of work >.<

Hope you like! C&C is always appreciated! :)

Can you make a small tutorial on how you did this weathering and chipping?
Or do you have a link to the one you used?
Would be really cool!
Thanks in advance!
