I thought I'd get the standard dispel dice from the dice roll , then the +1 for being a dwarf and then the +2 for the anvil

Yeah but thats not a great deal when quite a few armies (Vampires dark elves daemons high elves tomb kings ogres and lizards) can chuck out very magic heavy lists that will just laugh at the very small amount of magic defence you have

Some runes of spell eating could be fun,as said magic gets heavy in some armies around 3000pts

Add a runesmith with a rune of spell eating and if you have enough points left a master rune of balance and give your bsb the rune of Valaya

I did consider it, i'll give it a try , my only thought was that it's not always going to work

Its going to give you a very good magic defence on the most determined magic heavy armies are going to be able to break through that and if they are that determined they are also risking alot of miscasts

A bit of a penalty of course, but if its intentional then go for it!

As a Dwarf General I think your ambition should be to just plain shut the magic phase down. Like others are saying, in other words. So yeah perhaps another dispel dice wouldn't hurt. You really can't afford to let through more than one or two decent spells per game. One perfect Purple Sun and it's all over.. after all.
At least force your opponant to risk Irresistable every time in order to have hopes of getting anything through.

This is exactly what I was trying to say to him. id say drop the thanes ecept the bsb and swap them for rune smiths

good list love the idea ironbreakers, dwarves with great weapons are the bomb, those are unit that will give a whole bunch of love to just about anything, try to fit in the anti killing blow rune on the bsb, bsb are to good to have die

Ok, so an update.

I'll be going to a tournament soon. The first tournament I've ever been to.

Now the points list is 2400 , and there are several caps. However my army deals with most of them. The only one that seems quite noticable is the no unit over 450pts and only +2 dispel dice per any magic phase.

Any advice with what I can do with what I currently have ?

I'm guessing dropping the longbeard unit and the thunderers.
