ok, so its my birthday today, and I dont know what I should buy myself..

I need to fill in 1 more slot for my fast attack in my SM DIY army, and Ive already filled 2 slots with assault troops (my army is relatively fast-paced)

- Scout Bike Squadron
- Attack Bike Squadron
- Regular Bike Squadron
- Land Speeder Squadron (w/ what variants?)

I'd try out the attack bikes. use them to support the assault troops with heavy weapons.

Welcome to the other side of 18, btw.

yeah attack bikes are cool, they are some what harder that landspeeders, though vunerable to lasgun fire and the like, but have the turbo boost save, and can carry an awsome amount of fire power!

Can't go wrong with a couple of Heavy bolter-armed Attack Bikes - much infantry killingness at a very reasonable cost.

Scout Bikes, however, would give you another dimension - and there are few better quarter-grabbers in the game. They're also cool models and an unusual choice. I'd throw in a tentative vote for them in this case :)

Oh, and many happy returns - shouldn't you be drunk in a hole somewhere rather than buying models? ;)

I voted for the land speeders. I think the Tornado specs are very nice with the Ass. Cans.

But in the end it is your birthday and you can cry if you want to!

Every SM army needs some LSTs :D Use the assault cannon build imo. Good for anti-tank and anti-swarm

my most sincere apologies, perhaps I should have included this earler :embarrassed: below is the weapons inventory for my SM army (just what might matter anyway)

Heavy Bolter (9)
Plasma Gun (4)
Lascannon (4)
Missile Launcher (2)
Multi Melta (1)
Assault Cannon (4)
Dreadnought (5)

Well I love attack bikes, and they are rarely seen, most people just load up on land speeder tornados.

when was the last time you saw a speeder without an assault cannon. ah well.

Go with attack bikes!

heheh. i voted speeder, but then realized u only had one multi-melta. Attack bikes wit multi-melta is what i would REALLY recommend

Land Speeder Tornadoes.

Damn. My first choice would have been Attack Bikes, but a LST squadron with ACs... mmm... much tasty high-speed rending death.

Multi-melta attack bikes are absolute bastards with the new ap1 rule. A squad of them will help you root out things like defilers and basilisks or any other tank that's hanging back.

They're also kind of scary so they might have the nice side effect of taking some of the attention off your other bikes and assault units.

Buy what you are most likely to paint.:D

I'm voting Attack Bikes for tabletop utility.:D

scout bikers. give them a vet sgt with bp/pw and charge!
seriously thet are the only unit in the SM list that can pull off a first turn charge in every game. with a first turn assault range of 42" you can tie up those nasty fire support units before they get to shoot at you.
or slap meltabombs onto wave serpents rear armour before they get a chance to move.
nasty.

assault range 42"? :wtf: can they seriously do that, or are you just pulling my leg? :wtf: I've never used Scout Bikes before, so thats why I dont know

He's got an unhealthy handful of your flesh mate.

2 things- nothing can turbo boost and then assault, and I'm 99% sure that scouts can't turbo on turn one (something about the noise of a turboing bike would compromise their position).

They get to scout move 12" before the first turn, then there move and then there ass move. Just be carfull that they dont bounce off an imp guard squad eh marv:D

I would vote for scout bikers or attack bikes.

Even if marv is wrong and I am right (wouldnt be the first time:p {ok so normaly it is the other way around:( })
What exactly is wrong with a 36" first turn charge, if thats how you use them.

My only advice is to avoid paying retail at all costs (ha, pun). eBay is your friend.

scout bikes.
deploy as fast attack.
most missions allow you to deploy 12" in.
scout move 12"
1st turn, move 12" assault 6".

12+12+12+6=42"

simple.

Which is the same as 30" from the front of your typical long board edge deployment zone, which is where most people measure from, since *all* units can use it. Most people only refer to the movement particular to the *actual* unit since deployment zones can vary.
