*** THREAD UPDATED 10 JULY - 2nd Buggy done!***

Okay I have decided to collect my ongoing Cadian Adeptus Arbites army onto one thread.

I've got about another 40 models to paint so here is some of the completed stuff and need your encouragement to keep going as I hate painting and am not particularly good at it :-( ...you will have seen these elsewhere no doubt. I will update this thread everytime I produce something new!

To come are still, all converted up ready to paint:
Combat Squad BAKER - shotguns x 10
Combat Squad DOG - bolters x 10
Sniper Team EASY - Sniper rifles x 10
Riot Squad JULIET - Powermauls and combat shields x 10
3 Tarantula sentry guns (3 lascannon)

To Buy or convert still are:

Arbites predator with water cannon
1 x Arbites squad cars (wheeled landspeeders)

Here is some of the armies fluff - mainly lifted from Malleus by Mister Abnett:

“They will tell you that there are no Arbites on Cadia. A permanent state of martial law governs this world, and as a result, the Interior Guard, a sub-office of the Cadian Imperial Guard itself, oversees all civil policing duties. They tell you that… yet we are here.”

“The best of us posted here from the surrounding sectors with strict remit to advise the Interior Guard. We Arbites owe no direct allegiance to the Interior Guard’s commander, and so are free to react to the slightest hint of treachery. There is some resentment to this autonomy, but we let them manage the policing. The role of everyday control and policing falls to the Interior Guard, working under the orders of the Imperial Commander and his staff. The Interior guards are sufficient when quelling riots or blasting out heretical wannabes. They can shoot fancy, but they just can’t do the detective work that’s involved with upholding the Dictates Imperialis and they have no gut instinct when it comes to detective work and paper trails.”

“In my ‘advisory’ role here on Cadia I am allowed to maintain a small task force to provide support when needed. Of course there is the Interior Guard, but it is the Adeptus Arbites that enact the definitive word of the law, above all others…Why do I have a task force of elites? When there are rogue Kasrkin Storm Troopers running amok in the grey fortifications and barbicans of Kasr Derth then you will be glad that I assembled the best Arbites in the sector who will be harsh in the execution of their duty, where mercy is a weakness unbecoming of an officer of the Emperor’s Law.”

Arbitor Senioris Isak Actte; Watch overseer to the Cadian Interior Guard.

“This is Cadia! Right on the doorway of Chaos! Right in the heart of everything! The seepage of evil is so great; I have a hundred active cults to subdue every month! A hundred! The place breeds recidivists like a pond breeds scum. I sleep three or four hours a night if I’m lucky. My vox chimes and I’m up, called out to another nest of poison that the Arbites have uncovered. Firefights in the street! Running battles with the foot soldiers of the Archenemy! I can barely keep up with the day-to-day banishments. This is the Gate of the eye! This is where the work of the Inquisition and the Adeptus Arbites is done, Interior Guard be damned!”

Inquisitor General Neve, Ordos Hereticus, Cadian Gate.

Looks good. What rule set are you using?

21-04-2006, 23:53
Very nice. Inspiration to put some more effort into my Arbites/Enforcers for my SoB.

I call - Scout Marines for the Ruleset.:p

Airborne XO
22-04-2006, 00:04
Good call the arbites are SM scouts! The riot squads will be assualt marines less jump packs and the servitors are terminators...

Hell, Arbites don't go flying around on Cadia its not as snazzy. What better way to pursue heretics across dale, street, swamp or desert! Tried to make the suspension seem dynamic thats why it sticks up a bit on the left...enjoy...thats a WIP flamer dude for scale purposes btw...

great work on the jeep :)

We need rhino's with squirt guns! Other then that, I thought arbites wore all black? Maybe I'm wrong... Anyways, they look great, I love the heavy servitor with the proctor, whats the basis of the model? Or is it a heavy conversion.

04-05-2006, 03:17
i demand that you build an ed209 dreadnought

<must get>:D

Okay some Riot arbites this week for your consumption.

Still need to do the eyes and yes that is a sister of battle flamer conversion on one of the new Necromunda enforcers (still not sure). Most of the troops are Void bodies with a few extras (powermauls are mid-1990s IG lasguns!). The Proctor is very old...huzzah...enjoy...Oh and theres a size comparison one at the end with a regular arbitor! These will be my 'counts as' SM assualt squad minus the jetpacks.

They look really great, I especially like the wheeled land speeder...

Looking great so far Airborne XO, I really like the extra armour on the Whirlwind. I like the scratch built buggy aswell, that looks very cool.

19-05-2006, 02:32
Evil people like you go and taunt me with the possibilities for my two squads of WH/? Arbites.:(

19-05-2006, 13:16
Nice one, Hal. Great use of the old lasguns! How long have you had those sitting in your bitz box? How're you planning on using that heavy flamer, though, if you're using SM Scout rules?

In other news, I've now officially started to re-visit my own Arbites plans, having ordered a box of plastic Scouts to begin my Execution Team. Once I've got a few other projects out of the way, I'll start my own log here.

Incidentally, for those of you interested in the Arbites in a more specific way, may I direct you to Precinct Omega (http://www.geocities.com/precinctomega/)?

Nice one, Hal. Great use of the old lasguns! How long have you had those sitting in your bitz box?

I have loads in with a box of RT guardsmen that I will be putting together...hmmm...in about 2009! :D

How're you planning on using that heavy flamer, though, if you're using SM Scout rules?

These are assault marines without jetpacks - so prob useless!!! The extra amour bonus up to 3+ is explained by the massive shields. The Hvy flamer will just count as a normal flamer for game purposes. I just liked the look of the gun and it fitted with the heavy bolters nicely.

Thanks for all your support guys - next up is the other 4 combat servitors...sorry Rabid Bunny 666

all looks good. youve got me into arbite fever now! i want some to use as HV's in my cadians 8th...

Thats where I started with 8 as storm troopers with my guard...now look at me! Only 45 models to go and a tank...come on!!! :D

Heh, I happen to think the combat servitor is great, and original. What are they going to count as ruleswise?

Airborne XO
19-05-2006, 22:31
There will be five combat servitors and they will count as a terminator squad...

[EDIT - Just bought the ED209 that was suggested earlier to convert into a venerable Dread...woot!]

Here are some WIP shots:

The idea is that when an mission is too difficult, such a breeching an enemy stronghold, using these heavy combat servitors saves valuable arbitor lives. I am still not happy with them completely but they needed to be done. In games they 'count as' a terminator marine squad...enjoy:

this is impressive! i like the style of play your going towards, it seems a very balanced army. i was wondering, what will be the HQ, and which rules set will he be using?

Airborne XO
01-06-2006, 16:19
The ruleset for simplicity is SM scouts force so:

Normal Arbites = SM Scouts
Riot Arbites = SM Assault squad without jetpacks, the 3+ save is modelled by the big shield.
Sniper Arbites = I sold my metal ones and getting some of the new SM scout sniper box sets in a couple of weeks!
Servitors = Terminators

I was intending on two HQ type units:

a) A Judge Senoris - a proxy SM chaplain who will instil the fervour the law in the troops.

b) Inquisitor Senoris - a proxy SM commander who will be a bit more combat orientated.

Battle report - Death at Kasr Narrarc

Today we received the Cities of Death books and terrain pieces... (and very nice they are too!)

So with the board nearly complete, I challenged Phil to a game of Cities of Death 40K. We thought we would share our fortunes...Phil takes it up (from our club forum):

After a quick glance through the book we settled on the Firesweep scenario (kind of like Cleanse but with players grabbing buildings as objectives). Scenario decided it was time to choose our Stratagems (we decided to go for an Omega level game with all the special rules, so we got to choose 3 Stratagems each).

Power Generator

Hal (airborne XO)

Command Centre
Booby Traps

After picking table corners we deployed our Stratagem counters. Closley followed by the army deployment...

And my nurgle army...

The first turn was to be fought using the night fighting rules... so much of the shooting was pretty much shoot and hope. Whilst I used the cover of darkness to move into better firing positions..

(One of the beauties of a City board is that there are some great photo opportunities).

Airborne XO
02-06-2006, 21:50
The Arbites moved to behind Barracades on the second turn to try and stop the Death Guard advancing over the bridge..

My movement on the second turn could have been stemed a little thanks to the booby trap Stratagems employed by Hal... thankfully no casualties were caused.

The Death Guard lord steamed over the bridge (yes I know its Typhus, but i was using the model as a generic lord, yes i know i'll burn in hell), supported by Nurglings and slaughtered the Arbites.

I was getting a lil edgy by the end of turn 2 as my Demolitions Stratagem was set to kick off in my Turn 3 shooting phase, and would demolish the bridge - on which i still had troops. Hal's Terminators targeted my Dreadnaught with their Cyclone Missile launcher and succeeded in destroying it... the Dreadnaught squealed and fell into the canal...

[Hal - To be continued when I upload the rest of the piccies. Sorry]

Cheers, Hal

Airborne XO
02-06-2006, 23:54
The Arbites assault phase was a fun affair with the remaining Arbites breaking from combat... allowing my Nurglings off the bridge.

Bolt Shells flew back and forth over the canal (to be honest the way my dice rolling was going i would of been better throwing cabbages...) and then the bridge blew... (thankfully with none of my units on).

The Terminators advanced on the Nurglings letting loose a hail of Storm Bolter fire... killing off two bases, and then finishing them off in close combat.

The Nurgle dedicated Predator unleashed Las-Fire into the Terminators.. How many ones can i roll?

The Terminators returned the favour.... nuff said...

They then closed on my Lord... fine i thought... not a problem, i'll have them...

Oh dear...

The game ended on turn 7 thanks to the random game length... not much was left on the board.

Victory went to Hal as he had managed to "plant his flag" in no less than 4 buildings...

Woot a good game had by both of us and a first victory for the arbites, despite a severe mauling.

Cheers, Hal / XO

Wow, what a great thread. Nice army, great ideas, cool conversions, and now a battle report? Threads don't get much better....

03-06-2006, 21:52
wow. just wondering, if i was gonna use an arbite detachment as hardened vets in my very own cadian army, how would you recommend buying them - boxed set, individuals or ebay(or similar online mad things)

04-06-2006, 03:38
Awesome models, painting scheme and a wonderful battle report.

Glad to see some other people doing picture battle reports.

Keep up the good work.

Airborne XO
04-06-2006, 09:44
Thanks guys

Marko - that is how I started with a 8 or so as stormtroopers in my IG army. There are a few ways to go with these buying-wise. Gamesworkshop offers the Enforcers from the Necromunda range, these are very nice but a bit pricey. Mail order also does all the really old classic arbites as well, again a bit expensive.

I got most of mine from ebay and stripped off the old paintjob. Be warned in a unit some people pay silly money for these and it is cheaper to get from GW - I bought in ones and twos for no more than £2 a man therefore saving some cash!

After recieving some good feedback on this model I decided to upgun him and paint him up in the livery of the Cadian arbites to act as a dreadnought in the army and provide some much needed tank-busting guns. Enjoy:

ED-209 was a kickass thing anyways, and you just made him more kickass

05-06-2006, 00:50
don't know if you have seen these but i think they and yours are some of the better arbites i've seen

05-06-2006, 01:01
Sweet crap that's good.

05-06-2006, 10:43
Those're very like what I had planned for my Precinct (better than I would do, but similar all the same).

05-06-2006, 13:25
who ever did those blue arbities, i want your babies

Airborne XO
05-06-2006, 15:33
They are about a million times better than I could manage unfortunatly, my green stuff skills are poor and they look like they have quite a bit. I see scout legs, cadian bodies and FW veteran heads but what are the arms??? anyone?

Cheers, XO

05-06-2006, 21:56
i believe that they are fierwarrior arms the blue pad/armour thing on the top of the hands looks vaguly similar to firewarriors. but i am not 100% sure they are definetly not mine, they were a golden deamon entry from Mark Raley who took silver in the staff squad/regiment section. I thought they were some pretty sweet models so i posted them here to make peoples jaws drop.

Looking at the US White Dwarf 319 where they appeared it says the arms are various Cadian arms and lots of green stuff. Really enjoying your arbites and looking forward to seeing more XO. All the best.

Sweet, I love me some arbites, and such a solidly modeled and painted one is a real treat! Everything looks great, with the K9 squad possibly my favorite - though ED209 has a spot in my heart always, especially with an added chainsaw!

I dig the battle report too, great to see 2 solid armies fighting over sweet-looking terrain. Just one thing: I didn't catch a pic of your HQ, though I saw him briefly in one of the report pics ...

19-01-2007, 15:26

Okay was sticking this fella together from spare bits and bobs and just messing around really but as I began to add things he started to look more and more the part of an Arbites commander that fits my fluff well. Since they are cadian arbites he represents sort of a hybrid of guard commander / arbites commander. I intend to use him to represent a military adjutant assigned to the arbites precinct. Obviously still needs greenstuff and loads of mold line removal

Cheers I can only set my workspace up in the evenings on a little fold out table in front of the couch. I can't leave it up as my 13 month old daughter would pull paints / glue / knives on herself (not good!). I spent most of my time painting flames of war tanks to raise extra cash.
