Hey everyone! You know how you always wanted to make a strigoi army, but the ghouls, not to mention the abhorrent strigoi models themselves, always put you off it? Heresy has just placed some incredibly awesome ghouls on pre-order, and the crouching one would work very very well as a strigoi vampire, with some minor convertion work.

Personally I think the GW ghouls look great.

I'm not sure why you think someone who does not like the GW ghouls would like these figures, since they are by the same sculptor

They're pretty sweet.

I just used the bare chested zombie bodies and used the unarmoured goblin wolf rider heads. Then painted their flesh pink. They're a lot lighter (on the pocket too) they look pretty cool and they dont chip if they whack into one another!

Well personally, I don't like how the GW ghouls look. They look kinda lost and unintimidating. As for the second point you raise, that only makes sense if you completely disregard the notions that people change or improve.

I don't see what you're so cranky about, and I still think the rightmost ghould would make a rad strigoi.

I personally think that the Rackham Ghouls are some of the best ever sculpted. Their ankles are pretty weak though on one of the sculpts (every single one of them I've attempted to put together has broken on at least one ankle).

Well, that's because Rackham minis, although being gorgeous, have a great many weak points. I think it might be because they use a different alloy than GW does.

yeah they look nice

My main problem with Rackham miniatures is that they're stylisitcally completely different form GW stuff, so even if they're usually gorgeous, it's hard to implement them in a coherent army.

Do you have any pictures? I've been looking for a good way of doing plastic ghouls, and I'd love to see your results.

...but then I've always prefered Reaper and Rackham undead models to GW's. :p

Having been an "undead" collector for a long time I personaly have 0 problems or dislikes with the current ( but now older ) ghouls citadel makes.

They look very nosfuratu like to me and very ghoulish, I checked out the mordheim ( you could call these the newest ones and they certainly do not look mordheimish onRy either so ) ghouls I still consider the normal warhammer line ones to be the best to date for poses and general looks.

As far as these ones go, meh they are just ok to me, they look a little too bulky for me though, sorta a cross between 4th ed versions and current. I have nothing against reaper and rakham ( I used to collect dark heaven back when they came out ) when it comes to the quality of their casts and how crisp they are, but as far as style or character goes, honestly they do no wonders for me and all that nmm uber cmon plugging means crap to me.

I like the classic citadel and marauder undead line the best, I believe these had some of the best captures for character and mood, especialy the awsome metal zombies ( not late 4th ed ones mind you ) and of course the night horror stuff. while the current range is rather ancient by todays standards the grave guard and some of the VC characters still look pretty darn cool, what we need redone is most of the troop range and some special units, we need REAL black knights and darker sicker looking zombies and bones the most.

It will come in time, when they redo VC we will have our glory! Till then I am working on my unused plastic empire spermen etc for zombie conversion.

This may be a silly question but, have you also tried Mordheim Ghouls?

Thank you

I personally adore the current ropey ghoul models. The only thing i think they're lacking in is their poses and that can be changed easily. The heresy ghouls however are very cool and if i were a vampire counts player (i've considered it several times) i'd definantly add those as champions or even just ordinary rankers. Nice that they're sculpted by the same bloke who did the originals, consistancy is a glorious thing.
