When using the Rancid Visitation spell against a war machine (say en empire cannon), which stat would it use for the Toughness test? In the spell description it says to use the lowest value if there is more than one and I can't find a rule that would require the test to be taken by the war machine itself.

So is it testing at 3 or 7?

In so far as it is a ranged attack: T 7

Wouldnt AB rule take precedence? just asking...

It depends on how the BRB words it. Is T7 considered to be the 'only' toughness value when the attack is ranged, as crew toughness cannot come into play from range?

Army Book trumps Basic Rule Book. You test against the lowest value in the unit - in the your example that would be '3'.
The same thing happens if you cast Rancid Visitation on the Dark Elf Hydra, for example, you test against the Handler's Toughness Value.
It's the whole point of the spell. Only thing that makes it usefull IMO (i.e. useless against bigger blocks unless debuffed somehow because how many T-checks do you expect them to fail?)

That is what I was thinking but I wasn't sure. The wording is just a little weird.
