The army books say that if the player decides to fire a salvo of bolts, you get six shots at S4 and an ASM of -2.

My question now is: Does the -2 ASM stack with the -1ASM due to the attack having S4?

No. The -2 save modifier is including the str 4. So it's really Str 4 AP.

I told my friends the same thing yesterday. Thanks for clearing that one up, guys!

None of you has a source for that by any chance, right?:)

Pretty sure it explains it all clearly in the BRB (war machines section), but I'm at work so don't have a copy to hand....

I would have said that if it quotes a specific save modifier then that overrides anything else - as in the contrary example: if it just quoted a strength but doesn't specifically state a save mod, then you don't assume that it doesn't affect saves, you take the standard save for that strength.

It would have perhaps been easier for them just to call it S4, AP...

I believe that it is strengh 4 AP. Would be fun if it was -3 to armor tho

Yup, it's just a -2 modifier, not -3. It's poor wording, but the intent is clear. If a specific minus modifier is given, that's the one you use (unless it says it's an extra modifier).

the whole "armour peircing" threw me off when i started, i new S4 was a -1, but didnt think ranged weapons modded armour saves, cept if stated, but its all clearer now
