View Full Version : Ethereal failed charge through Impassable terrain

I had a unit of war hounds flee from a unit of Hexwraiths. The Hexwraiths needed to clear a five inch impassable terrain obstruction to make the charge. After the flee move, the Hexwraiths failed to make the charge so they move forward only 4 inches and fail to clear the impassable terrain. Does the unit not move or does it bounce to the other side?

Stops 1" in front of it, I'd say.

Reasoning for this is the default is that you are not allowed to pass through impassable terrain, which ethereal makes an exemption for, but it also notes that you are not allowed to loiter "in" it, and and the situations where you "cascade" though stuff (eg. Fleeing, Vortices moving, things like that) explicitly tells you to move through and end up 1" off the other side.

Can't reach,
failed charge,
they stop 1" away from the impassable terrain.

Scalebug provides not only a concise answer but his reasoning is sound: One point to Gryffindor!
