I was thinking of starting a Sisters army. Pretty basic, lotsa infantry and whatnot. I was wondering what a good basic block of troops should be.

Also wondering if anyone's played them in 6th yet and could tell me how they're doing, and anything I should steer away from.

Thank you! :D

So far it seems like Rhinos and Immolators might be too fragile to rely on, but Overwatch and Flamers seems to go well if you position them right. Also, not to shy you a way from the Sisters, but being almost all pewter models makes them a bit expensive and possibly in a limited supply, though me and my club are trying to work out a good plastic conversion.

Just a thing to note about the new rules.. page 52 "Gunslingers" - models with 2 pistols can fire them both. A nice bonus for seraphim (is it seraphim that have 2? and can one of them be a hand flamer?)

Seraphim have always been able to fire both pistols (at least they have since the WD codex) as they have a special rule which allows them to.

Take a look at the 6th edition sisters tactica thread, 6th edition has been pretty kind to the sisters with penitent engines and repentias looking much better thanks to the changes in the rage rules. Exorcists are still a staple and so are meltagun dominions (in Rhino or immolator). St Celestine is the force leader of choice.

The debate still rages about whether or not sister squads on foot are useful now, I think they probably are, but it's always smart to give it a go yourself and see.

Sisters have a really hard time against enemy aircraft, about our only choice is to buy a fortification with a quad gun, or ally in a vendetta/storm talon

I'd say about 20 Battle Sisters and a Cannoness (or other commander if you prefer) would be a good basic block to start with. It would look good thematically, and fill out your minimum force requirements (I'm assuming it's still 1 HQ and 2 troops minimum) if you split them into two squads of 10. Throw in some special heavy weapons as well for a flexible force that excels at short-range firefights (that's where the faction is best at).

After this you can then add in some vehicles and specialist units. You can keep them at two squads of 10, and possibly mount them in Rhinos, or expand them (up to 20 members each).

When expanding, I recommend at least one Exorcist tank, as they're where the majority of your long range anti-tank firepower will come from, and with new hull point rules they seem as though they'd make short work of most vehicles short of a Land Raider (and you have meltas/multi-meltas for them).
