Does anyone have some links to some substitute Bretonnian Trebuchet's? Or some instructions on how to scratch build one?

Just use the Skaven plague claw catapult ? Just paint it differently and use regular peasants for crew members.

Or what about the Gondor Trebuchet, 'Fantasy-ed' up a bit?

You mean covered with a thick crust of skulls?

thick crust? Sigh, this is the problem with people. They're too conservative. Real warhammer trebuchets/ catapults are made of skulls! :D

(and various other bones and stuff :shifty: . Did i mention it fires skulls?)

I'm guessing the reluctance is due to the flingy bit snapping off? A friend of mine bought the (metal) version of the Gondor Trebuchet and was having the same problem. Finecast might have made it less prone to snapping, but be aware.

I am working on a conversion using the Zvezda Bombard.

The crew are out of scale, but the cannon is a bit larger than the Empire one. I picked it because I was wanting something that looked like it would have a Str 5 blast.

Why do you want to substitute one? Is it the price issue, or the nuissance of putting it together?

I made a trebuchet from sprue for my goblins. Looks allright when you paint grain on the wood parts, put it on a nice base and use sufficent amount of sprue to make it look sturdy.

Sorry no pic though.

I would agree with strv. Either make one from bits of sprue, or buy some popsicle sticks and make one up. You could, with a bit of effort, make an actual functioning trebuchet! Grab some Men-at-Arms to convert over for crew, and you have a model. Just work to make it the same size as the actual trebuchet.

I have 2 metal brettonian trebs and a finecast gondor treb. if you're going to buy one or the other, get the finecast one or wait till the bret one comes in finecast. 16 more bucks is worth the hassle and frustration it'll save you putting it together. It would be pretty easy to just make one from bits and sprues.

Ex Ellis makes some pretty cool catapults that come two to a box. They're not quite as tall as the Bretonnian trebuchet but should work in a casual game. They're cheap too!

Well, there's not that much waiting left it seems :)
