View Full Version : Eldar Yme-Loc: some assorted models :-)

A long time lurker finally deciding to share my pictures with the Warseerites!

Been busy with this army for about a year now and it's been steadily growing. Going tobe adding some Forgeworldey goodness in the shape of a warp hunter and some hornets soon.

I'll let the pics (hopefully) speak for themselves.

How could I forget my Warp Spiders? And a tank group shot.

Very nice! Although I must say I prefer the 'standard' colours for the Avatar, I can't wait to see more of this!

Very nice indeed! Lovely crisp edging and smooth layers. Feels like it needs a little extra detail perhaps - maybe a transfer or design to bring them together/mark them out as from a specific craftworld? I assumed Yme-Loc was your own made up craftworld, but now I have the feeling that I've heard that name before...

Wherever from? ;) It's actually in the Codex, in the painting guide.

Love your work, it's certainly better than mine. If you need transfers, Bell of Lost Souls made a Yme-Loc sheet some time ago. Search for it and it will pop up. Welcome to the Craftworld, I'm sure self-biased will be along shortly...

@Sildani: Yeah, I was thinking of adding some kind of freehand or the BoLS transfers, but I'll need some practice before messing up my finished guys :-)
Especially some of the tabards and cloaks could use some extra detailing.

@Radium: The avatar was a bit of an experiment. Not my best work, but oh well, it certainly draws attention on the table.

@S_A_T_S: The craftworld is indeed an existing craftworld with only 1 "official" painted model in the codex. I was looking for a high-tech-style colourscheme and saw this one. And then I read they use lots of tanks and I was sold. Love the look of the eldar tank-chassis :-)

Here's some Aeronautica Imperialis flyers I painted in the same scheme:

Very nice! You don't see many Yme-Loc colour schemes, but I think you've pulled it off nicely. Do you plan on printing off your own decals?

02-09-2012, 18:10
Thanks for all the kind words. Always nice when people appreciate your work :-)

Also, it's really motivational. Started painting my warp hunter right after reading your comments. Wouldn't want to keep you guys waiting ;-)

Anyway, here's a little kitbash I started a while ago and never really got round to finishing (especially cause every 1 of these needs 1 eldar jetbike and 1 reaver jetbike to make).

I wasn't really planning on adding any decals. Might try my hand at some freehands in the future, but I find it really hard to go back to models that are already finished (kinda). Afraid I might mess it up.

One of the cleanest Eldar schemes I've seen in a long time. You pulled off the colour scheme very well, keep it up! :)

Good looking Eldar! Is that a Razorwing Jetfighter I spy in a picture with a Wave Serpent?

It is indeed a Razorwing (kinda) converted into a nightwing look-a-like. Wasn't really happy how it turned out, so I eventually got a real nightwing :-)
This was all before 6th and the addition of allies to the rules.

And here's my finished Warp Hunter.
Quite a fun model to paint. Assembly could have gone a bit smoother (especially that weird backplate thingy), but overall a pretty cool kit.

Next up, probably my Nightwing :-)

After a bit of warm water, none of my Warp Hunter parts had been an issue.

05-09-2012, 06:18
I primarily had a problem with the casting. It was a bit rough around the edges (literally).

The backplate seemed to be under a bit of tension, like it could "spring" off at any time. Luckily it hasn't (and likely won't).

Overall though, it wasn't that bad. And indeed, hot, soapy water and a toothbrush do wonders :-)

05-09-2012, 07:03
The tension would've been easy to fix with water. My weapon had a lot of tension at the round plate on the top. Fixed in 2 minutes with hot water, now is fitting very well :) (can't say the same about the parts of the Vampire Hunter though)

Did a quick finish on a Farseer that was supposed to kick some ass tomorrow. Unfortunately my opponent had to cancel :-(

I must say, Hi-res pictures make models look ***** :-)

Sweet, I ordered that farseer to convert to a jetbike about 5 days ago. Your paintning make it look ace! Keep it up!
