Hey all, long time lurker first time member! Thought I would contribute in some small way by showing you what I have all been working on. At the moment I am working on building my eldar army. Without any further ado here we go with the pics:

My Autarch:

My Falcon (WIP) The body of the tank isnt glued to the base yet, which is why you can see a gap in some of the pictures.

My Army itself is inspired by the Mymeara Army from the Imperial Armour volumes.

Wow, it looks really nice. Your painting is very clean, and the choice of colors is great.

just curious: considering the choice of equipment for your autarch, how do you plan to play him?

Thanks Chrysalis, I probably wont play him with the equipment he has on there, I have magnetized his weapons and the wings so I can play him a few different ways. I just loved the model I had to paint him lol!

Very good job. I like that ivory tone instead of white. It gives a nice smooth touch. Compliments.

Good start of a plog, I really like the Autarchs sword.
What are your plans with aspect warriors, their shrine colours or do you keep to the army theme?

Jwilko
16-09-2012, 12:14
Thanks for the compliments! As for the aspect warriors thats something I haven't 100% decided on yet. I'd actually like to experiment with my own colours on them as some of the aspects I really don't like the look of.

At the moment I have an old farseer and warlock that i've stripped and have ready to paint after I finish off the rangers and the falcon... plenty to keep my busy!

Hey everyone, just got a quick update! I have been painting up some jetbikes and war walkers at the moment, most of the pictures I have are WIP though. Let me know what you all think!

And one final shot of everything on my painting table as it is!

Sorry for the bad photos, just thought i'd give you all a quick update. Also the colour transition from turquoise to blue doesn't turn out very well on the photos unfortunately. Feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey everyone, quick update! I have been experimenting with not only my first try at OSL, but also on how I can incorporate my own army colours into aspect warriors!

Let me know what you all think ;)

First go at OSL!

Really cool stuff ! Very clean nice paintjob, very Eldarly.

Did you used any Vallejo decal fix or medium, or something like that, on the jetbike. Nice, that you painted some shadows on the symbole. It makes it more three-dimensional.

The energie weapons look amazing ! You have used an airbrush right ?

Im not a fan of the OSL, but I don't like it generally.

Keep uo your amazing work !

Thanks for the comments! I am really loving painting the eldar (even if they don't play as well as any other army I have come up against)

I do indeed use an airbrush and use the decal medium. Makes for a faster smoother look, and the decal medium is great as well.

I have somewhat of a massive update - its been a while since I posted anything up here on my log, but that's not to say I haven't been painting! I know how you all love pictures so here we go:

My Farseer conversion on a jetbike.

I am still working on the gems on the rider and thinking about putting some more decals on the model.

My unit of jetbikes which are still WIP. I chose to go for red gems rather than purple ones, as I think it contrasts more with the teal/blue colours.

Very nice painting! Colour scheme reminds me of Mymeara, but without the snow bases. I like it a lot better this way!
Why did you paint the warp spider in craftworld colours and the other aspects in shrine colours though?

They were indeed inspired by the Mymeara craftworld - mainly by the colour scheme rather than anything else.

In regards to the aspect warriors, I've tried to incorporate a bit of the army colours into the models. Whether it is the loincloths for the Howling Banshees, a few ribbons on the Fire Dragons or the weapons on the Dark Reapers. The reason why I went all out on the Warp Spiders was I had a idea in mind for them, I didn't really like the aspect scheme and didn't feel it would fit in we'll alongside my other Eldar. I think it's a decision ill have to make for my Scorpions as well when I get around to them!

im currently working on a 500 point list for an escalation league that I'm in with my mates, so hopefully ill have that fully painted by the end of the week!

Hey Wilko, great to see you are back into painting your eldar, your farseer conversion looks great, really tidy. I'm just in the process of revisiting my eldar so I'll be looking forward to watching your post's for motivation!!

I've just bought an airbrush and can see some of your techniques , would love a few tips in regards to paint mix etc and what equipment you use!! Your pink/purple swords are going to be the colour of my army (but in truth I haven't decided) what colours did you use?

Thanks dodgyrich! sure, no worries. I use an iwata eclipse hp-cs for all my airbrushing details and mostly use the vallejo game colour set. Of course I have to water it down, usually with a 1:1 mix of vallejo thinner medium and game colour paints. As for the power weapons, the colours I used were a transition between 4 different colours. I started with a white basecoat, then followed up with warlord purple > Hexed Lichen > Royal Purple - all paints from the game range.

Anyways, onto the promised update of the stuff I have been neglecting to put up here for a while. Brace yourselves for pictures.

First i'll start with my hemlock wraithfighter. It's still in the process of being worked on, especially the weapons and the underneath, but other than that its pretty much done.

I'm back! Thanks for the complements everyone, also I'll try and get a picture of everything together later in the week - it takes a while to set everything up as I have so much eldar now lol.

Uni is almost over for the semester so I've had a bit of time to paint! I've been painting some harlequins for the army and would love some feedback. I really enjoyed painting these and am almost thinking of painting a waveserpent in the same theme for their dedicated transport. I also was looking for a way to paint the harelquins without resorting to the most soul destroying way of traditionally painting them - with checkers....

There is method to the madness, I wanted them to have the predominant colours of my army so there was a little bit of coherency with the army overall

@EvilMonkee - the ride for the jetseer is made from the high elf dragon mage body, with a dire avenger head and blade. The bike itself is made with some wraithlord additional fins!

@kharandhil - thanks so much. I really wanted this army to be my only army after selling off my old ones, so I wanted to put alot of effort into these guys :)

Anyway, who wants an update? I realised that I had never taken pictures of my wraithknight of my warp spiders.... Bear in mind, these are still WIP (note the wraithknight missing hands and some weapons not being washed nor highlighted)

Any chance you could shed some light on your basing methods? Honestly, the bases make your models! Are they resin molds? Or stacked slate? I'd love to see one of them unpainted or something :).

Thanks,

Thanks guys! The bases are from an online company called back2base-ix - they're fairly cheap for what they are. I really loved them because as you said, I totally agree that good basing makes a model, it just gives the model a great finishing touch. I just havent been able to find a good large base for my flyer or my wraithknight yet, so I think I might need to source some slate to base them. Heres a picture of some of them unpainted

This is growing into a wonderful army, very smart use of the airbrush. I find it a little bit too simple, but nothing to critisize on the painting technique and overall this army will look more than fine.

I only say it's too simple because I know for sure you can do better than this, but I'm guessing the aribrush gets things painted very fast, the armybuilding is going very smoothly

Thanks man :-) do you mean the colours on the large areas are too simple? I had been experimenting with doing some light freehand in conjunction with the airbrushing but haven't had much luck so far in making it look any good

It is indeed ikea! It's just one of their cabinets with a glass door and mirrored inserts. Wasn't too expensive

Bit of an update! I am still working on these but don't have any time to play them anymore as most of my mates have quit 40k. I am trying to finish off my eldar however, so I can look at the display cabinet with pride at my first fully painted army!

I recently got some wraithguard models for xmas and have been painting them up as well as the illic nightspear model and my autarch on jetbike.

As always, comments and critiques are welcome :)

Cheers man I really appreciate it!

I've been working on fixing up my guardians, although they are still missing eyes upon closer inspection! Also I realised I haven't shown my larger bases that I made out of slate which I am pretty happy with the outcome.

As always, let me know what you all think!
