That's kind of a general question. Try to provide some specifics - what sort of army - a particular legion or renegade chapter? Shooty, choppy, or balanced? Competitive, fluffy, or somewhere in the middle?

I'm not sure if the OP is trolling with us. I especially like his nickname.

OP: as Ozendorph said; we need more info than what you gave us before we can give you a response.

Well, I found this in his posting history..

I'm new to chaos and I'm thinking of doing a black legion army

does any one have any suggestion to what i would need to place in my army

it is a competitive army list

I normally face grey knight and space marines but I will some times face necrons, imperial guard or tyranids

is it worth taking daemons as allies.

does any one have any sugestion?

also does any one no how to paint black legion

I'm playing in 6th edition

I don't think he's a troll; he just seems vastly uninformed regarding Chaos - specifically Black Legion. I mean, he even asks what color they are. So his vague questions make a bit more sense, given the context of his previous posting.

To the OP, try the Chaos Codex 6th tactica (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?344958-Tactica-Chaos-Space-Marines-6th-Edition) thread, and here's some information on the Black Legion. (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Black_Legion#.UHyvBa4y34Q)

Color wise, pick 2 colors. A main for the armor and a secondary for trim. If you want to paint awesomely then you might have to go in a bit more detail. Fluff wise i think they are black with gold trim.

Marks, i use nurgle for anything thats up front and taking the hits, tzeentch for demon princes or anything you really care about as invuls save lives. Slaanesh/khorne on assaulty units as you want them to hit first or hit harder.

But if your going competitive then id lurk around the army list page for the minmaxed armies

I would only give Marks to your most important units that will make the most use of the bonuses during the game. For instance in my Iron Warrior army out of 4 scoring units, I only upgrade one with a Mark (MoK) and Icon (of Wrath). One of the other units is a small group of Khorne Beserkers who escort my Lord. Obviously I have very direct missions for these two units to achieve (namely getting into CC asap) and have given them the appropriate Mark to help them with this mission.

You should attempt to keep your units of CSM as cheap as possible, and only mark units whose strategic use will benefit most from the mark.

I find the fact that you are quibbling over a script when you can't spell "Python" disturbing :p

Yeah in that case definetally avoid over upgrading your units. Only Mark units that need it to better complete their in game mission.

Like Khorne or Slaanesh for Assault and Nurgle or Slaanesh for Defense.

yes, and I have found that more cheap CSM is > less expensive ones. So if you know you are using a squad of 10 for assaults exchange their bolters for CCW, but a shooty unit just keep with bolters and bolt pistols. Remember units of CSM who you intend for fire support don't really need marks, tops just give them the Icon of Vengeance over whatever special weapons you gave them.

You might also want to consider Ahriman or Huron (painted as 'counts as Black Legion', if you want) as your commander as they are both excellent value and importantly have a fixed (try to avoid random rolls for competitive play) warlord trait (a very useful one).

Nurgle would be good for Shooty units largely due to return fire, but again, as points allow.

if you are keeping you 10 man squad on foot I think buying them a transport instead of giving them the MoN, or MoS + IoE, is a better deal.

for less than 3 marines the squad becomes immune to all small arms fire AND can redeploy to problem spots easily (and the rhino contributes to target/armour saturation)
