View Full Version : Eldar terrain - shards of a craftworld

Here is my take on some eldar terrain. The concept is that a faded craftworld has collided with an orbiting planet. The remains lie shattered over a barren plain, where the wraith bone energy give new life to its surroundings.

I plan to do several pieces, but at the moment I'm just testing the method of making the wraith bone shapes out of xps-foam. So far I'm quite satisfied with the shapes and how easy the foam is to work with. Here are some wip-pics:

First a dry-fitting of the foam pieces

The base is made out of 6mm mdf. The edges are sanded down, so it blends more naturally with the table, and so the miniatures down topple over when they are standing on the edge

The floor plane is hot glued to the base

The wraith bone pillars are covered in acrylic modelling paste for strength. They will be sanded down when dry.

Hope you enjoy it!

An interesting project with a great idea. I am looking forward to see how this develops.

Interesting, original idea.

First image that came to me was a few graceful spars arcing up into the sky with just enough hull covering left to turn it into an interesting los blocker. Something like what Bugbait has done here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?109769-Apocalypse-40k-Terrain&p=6499613&viewfull=1#post6499613
