Hi guys,

I closed the other thread as it related to an army which is now extinct! I have started an Emperors Children force, and plan on using almost exclusively FW parts. I currently have a 5 man MKII squad painted along with a chaplain in terminator armour. In the pipeline I have another 5 man MKII squad, a contemptor and a cataphractii terminator squad with power fists.

To lead this I have a captain sicarius figure ready to be EC'd up and a conversion of a master of the chapters figure. I also have a librarian model as I really liked the cast of the model and just had to have it.

I'll post up the 5 man squad later and a few WIP pics but for the time being please let me know your C&C for the below models.

Loving the sergeant.

Amazing! The sergeant is a definite eye-catcher! As a huge fan of pre-heresy stuff, I always love seeing more pre-heresy or heresy-era models and color schemes! Thanks for sharing!

thanks a lot chaps, just a few pieces i had lieing around and wanted to do something a bit different with the sergeant.

the forgeworld resin reacts very well to the hairdryer treatment so his leg was easily repositioned to sit atop the rock. I started painting him last night and it made me realise how much I prefer the MKII armour! I'll post a pic up later for critique as I think I may have too much gold on him and may need to tone it down...

as always please feel free to leave comments :)

thanks mate, i'm pretty much dead set on having an almost exclusivlely MKII army, with the odd bit of MKIII and one or two MKIV bits, but at the time I sadly didnt have the correct body to be able to make him a marine in the same mark of armour! i have two squads of the new MKII armour on the way with tigrus bolters so will definitely be more very soon

Not really. Personally I'd not have guilded the boots, both from a practical sense, as boots get dirty and chipped so why bother, and i think the kneepads sandwiched between 4 narrow gold trims would be enough. But that's just fiddling. The amount of gold itself isn't overpowering.

Did you just ask if there was too much gold in your emperors children plog?

No sir. No there is not too much gold!

Wow, absolutely stunning! These are really coming along beautifully. Also you can never have to much gold! Looks to good with that beautiful rich yellow! Keep up the great work btw I really love that sergeant.

thank you all very much for the kind words. I'm taking them very slowly, and not painting anything else until I have a basic legal army i.e. two troop choices and a HQ, even if they're both just 5 man squads :)

Hey Sultan,

he looks great!

For a legal Legion Army you need 2x10 or do play with an Praetor with Pride of the Legion?

Looking good, Sgt Corsun looks good with the gold. Though personally i'd highlight the golds with some chainmail or something. Which purple are you using as your basecoat?

SultanGrayus
09-11-2012, 12:23
thank you, I think I will go back later and highlight the golds with some silver.

The purple is Army Painter Alien Purple spray with a thin layer of Xereus purple. Druchii Violet all over, Nuln Oil in the recesses and then another thin layer Xereus purple to tidy things up. I didn't want to overcomplicate things :)

Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties and so bear ourselves that, if the Imperium lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.' - Lord Commander Sultan Grayus, addressing his troops before engaging with the traitor legions upon Istvaan.

Lord Commander Sultan Grayus. Painting commences tomorrow! I now have 15 troops in mkII armour, and enough bolters for them all now... just require the mkII EC shoulder pads, which I'm led to believe I will receive at Christmas. This then will lead me to have a basic "legal" army...

let me know what you guys think :)

Oooh, nice conversion! I didn't actually notice you'd done the legs as well at first, which is good thing obviously! Very stirring words by the way, I feel the sudden, overwhelming urge to die gloriously for my Emperor! ;)

that lord looks awesome, I'm not a fan of the sword though. The FW parts are so much more crisp and delicate, the sword looks rather blunt in comparison.
I'll give my final judgement when you finished painting ;)

keep it coming! towards perfection!

SultanGrayus

I've got to agree about the sword. luckily the arm that goes with that which carries the helmet is the matching sword arm. I'll attach and reposition it and see how it looks :)

thanks
