View Full Version : Syn's Ork Horde!

Due to a lack of hobby time and funds I have decided to sell of my smaller projects in order to spend more time (and money) on my main armies. Since my Necron's are already well under way I figure it's about time my Orks get some lovin'!

My Necron army already has a log so it seems only right that I give my other army a log too, this should help keep me motivated, so I present to you my Orks!

I haven’t used this army for 5 or 6 years now, they were sitting in an attic until 6 months ago when I moved house and took them out to have a look, they’ve been sitting on a desk since then. Just to show you how unused this army has been here’s a photo of the desk once I moved some of the models.

And here’s the army I'm using at my local club tonight.

The list goes-
Warboss - power claw, twin linked shoota, attack squig, ammo runt, eavy armour, cybork body
Big Mek - kustom mega blasta, power claw, 2 ammo runts, eavy armour, cybork body

10 Nobs - all in eavy armour, power claw, 8 big choppas, pain boy, grot orderly, Wagggh! banner
Trukk - red paint job, grot riggers, armour plates
10 burna boys - 2 meks with rokkit launchas

20 boyz - nob
25 boyz - nob, 3 big shootas

4 warbikes - nob with power claw

Looted wagon - ard case, deff rolla, red paint job, grot riggers, armour plates, 2 big shootas

What do you think?
I have completely forgotten how to use Orks so I figured this was a pretty 'all round' list, I'll let you know how it goes.

Seems a little confusing that you don't like the hobby yet you continue it and even have started a log to keep yourself doing the hobby. There is nothing wrong with this just seems a little ... strange.:eyebrows: Any ways .. get some more pictures up. I would love to see these orks!

30-11-2012, 15:01
I think I was a bit unclear there, I love the hobby, I just can't afford to be doing full army projects any more. So I'm just going to be doing small projects for my existing army with the money I get from selling everything else.

I'll get some close up photo's posted soon, is there anything in particular you'd like to see?

Oh, and I forgot the battle waggon in my army list!

30-11-2012, 21:06
I've got some mid battle photo's, they're a bit blurry and full of flash so I'll get some decent unit photo's up tomorrow. For some reason I can't use the flash while my camera is in macro mode so I'll have to wait until I've got some natural lighting.

I'm planning to paint up a weirdboy and a unit of tank bustas next, and I want to do a lot of work to my looted wagon, it's just not looted enough!

Got some unit photo's for you.

Burna Boyz

Shoota Boyz

Slugga Boyz

Biker Nob (the other bikers aren't really worth showing)

Battle Wagon

Looted Wagon (so far)

All C&C welcome.

And some photo's of what's currently on the work bench, Tank Bustas and a Weirdboy.

All C&C welcome.

Nice dude, your list is alright, how did. It go?

02-12-2012, 23:28
Lots of really nice modelling, posing, and a great paintjob to boot, very consistent, while still showing some individuality in the mobs.

04-12-2012, 19:21
@ GlenMorray: The list I used worked out alright, the burna boyz and nobs were really good, but I have completely forgotten how to use boyz:confused: And my bikes got wiped out before they did anything, I think 4 bikes makes the unit a bit too small, I'll try replacing them with deff koptas or wartrakks next time I think.

@unwanted: Thanks, that's very kind of you :)

I forgot to show off my deff-dread-type-thing, so here it is.

All C&C welcome.

Really like the skin tones and highlights. For some reason I am really drawn to the biker nob. Like the mid battle shots, nice touch, I might have to steal that idea and put it on my log. ;) Keep up the great work.

06-12-2012, 10:02
Thanks D-FLINCH, and feel free to steal away :)

I finished off the Tank Bustas, and I'm glad they're finally joining the army. I can't remember when I built them, at least 3 years ago, so I'm glad to see them finally finished.

I also came across a Space Marine Rhino that was in pretty poor contition so, in true Orky fashon, I started looting it! It's going to take a lot of work and right now the construction work is only about 10% done, but here's how it's looking.

All C&C welcome.

10-12-2012, 10:31
Work has continued on the Looted Rhino, it's about 60% done now.

I also had another battle, this time against Paper Titan Guy and his Necron army.

During the battle I lost a boy, look where he turned up.

All C&C welcome.

You scalped your opponent!?

Nice to see those grey lumps of plastic getting stomped by some propa' painted boyz.

11-12-2012, 20:15
You scalped your opponent!?

Exactly what I thought!
But when you take pictures, remember that a flash makes the subject look flat and I find it distorts the colors. Usually a good atmosphere lighting will make good pictures, just be careful with the flash.
Good looking looting though. And thank god someone can beat Necrons.

12-12-2012, 11:18
Yup, I think I can safely say the Orks were victorious :) But I might have had a bit of an advantage, considering I also play Necron's.

I'm afraid there's really not much I can do about the camera flash, the lighting in my local club really isn't all that good.

Today’s update!

I'm planning to put together enough units to field a Big Mek army based around one of my favourite units in the whole game, Killa Kans! They might not be the most powerful unit available to an Ork player but they are by far the most fun. Years ago I used two units of three Kans in pretty much every game I played and this time round I plan of three units of three, and very possibly a fourth. Since I love the old metal models sooooooo much one of my units will be staying exactly as it is.

Most of the other Kans will be based on the new plastic models with exception of two metal ones that I've been converting up to fit in with the new ones. Here's how they're looking so far.

Chicken Legs-

And Trukk-kan-

And finally I started making a unit of big guns.

All C&C welcome.

really nice stuff. with the kill kan at the end with wheels maybe a mono wheel at the rear would help him not falling over? really nice conversion.

04-01-2013, 15:40
Almost a month since my last post! Sorry about that, I've had the flu so I've not really got very much done. I have finished painting the 2 Killa Kans and building the Looted Rhino (it’s now a Looted Razorback).

And the Razorback that is not a Trukk.

I'm currently working on a 2000 point list with 12 Killa Kans! Here's the plan-

Kustom Furce Field Big Mek
Kustom Mega Blasta Big Mek
2 units of 6 Nobz with Battle Wagon transport
8 Lootaz
2 units of 12 boyz with Trukk transport
Deff Dread with 4 close combat weapons
Deff Dread with 2 close combat weapons and 2 Rokkit Launchas
3 Killa Kanz with 2 Big Shootas and a Kustom Mega Blasta
3 Killa Kanz with Grotzookas
3 Killa Kanz with Rokkit Launchas
3 Killa Kanz with Skorchas

It's pretty much just the walkers and Lootas left to do, I'm planning on doing a lot of converting for both units, and I need two more Nobz, which are already under way

All C&C welcome.

04-01-2013, 19:25
I really like the wheels on that killa kan.
Whenever I see it, I think of an army of killa kans rolling across the waste land buzzing, rimbling, and knocking into each.... Then my guard blowing them up! ;)
And that list looks like loads of fun to play with and against. Glad to see another post, keep it up

07-01-2013, 19:07
Oooooohhhhhh!!!!! You'r a big meanie, you are! Just for that I might have to loot some Imperial Guard stuff next ;)

I got my next Killa Kan in the post today, I decided to get a second hand one on eBay instead of buying a whole box because I only needed the one to complete my next trio. But I'm going to order a new box which will hopefully arive about the same time as I finish painting this one. Here's a pre-paint photo with a comparison between the old metal ones and the new plastic ones. It's a little bit static due to it already being glued together and I couldn't take it apart without damaging the parts, so it's not going to be my best work but hopefully it'll do.

Oh, and anybody remember Paper Titan Guy from my Necron blog? Well this is what happens if you let him touch a model-

All C&C welcome.

07-01-2013, 19:54
this is pretty nice. my favorite part is your deff rolla, how did you make it?

07-01-2013, 19:57
whops, double post.

08-01-2013, 09:04
The Deff Rolla is actually made out of a dog's chew toy! And it's held in place with bits made from Deffkopta rotor blades and spears from the fantasy Orc boys.

17-01-2013, 19:49
Right, I've got a small problem, I've ordered a box of Kans and Dread but they haven't even been dispatched yet and I'm moving house in a week  I'll give them a call tomorrow and tell then to hurry up!

In the mean-time, I've got to work on the only Kan I've got. I'm trying out a new colour scheme that has quite a lot more red, it's still WIP (I've painted all the large sections but most of the details still need picked out) but what do you think? Is this colour scheme working or should I stick to the mostly black colour scheme?

I also painted a Nob.

I absolutely love the GorkaMorka Nobs, so far I've got three of them. I don't think there’s any more but if anybody knows of any others please do tell :) Here's a slightly blurry photo of the lot-

All C&C welcome.

17-01-2013, 23:17
That nob really caught my eye. Great models in general and that new paint scheme works well. I feel like an army in that scheme would look nicer on the table. It certainty feels more orky!
Keep up the great work. And good luck with your move and shipment problems. We have all had those. :shifty:
