Can I place WLCs on ramparts? I'm defending a castle tomorrow with my skaven and I'd find WCLs pretty useful zapping treemen. They move like chariots, so ramparts sounds a bit awkward. is it possible?

IMO - not really. They should be placed on towers.

But I must say, that defending castle (or rather pile of rubbish in skaven case ;) ) with skaven sounds interesting to me - I'm a skaven player and great fan of siege games (campaigns especially).
Please, post here your army and few words about your tactics. But maybe after battle, just in case if your opponent read this forum too. ;)
I wrote some articles about WFB siege, unfortunately in Polish, so they are no help for you. They contain some ideas like castle upgrades, new rules (as, for example, using hostages)etc. For example I made simple rules for "warpfire", used in the same way as boiling oil: 45 pts, str5 d3 wounds, causing panic, flaming & magic attack (just like warpfire thrower, but don't blow up) - skaven only.
For more ideas to use in siege check "The General's Compendium" book. And below is example of house rules describing mantlets for skaven and dwarfs:
http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/painting/mantlets/house_rules.htm
Rules for campaigns:
http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/generalscompendium/siege/default.htm
And here you can download changes and errata:

Good luck!

P.S. Please, forgive me my English. I have learned it by myself.

Hmm, my list:
Warlock 115
+engineer stuff (no pistol)
+Cloak
*General

Warlock 110
+engineer stuff (no pistol)
+Storm Daemon

Warlock 85
+engineer stuff (no pistol)

Warlock 70
+engineer stuff (no pistol nor the power dice maker)

These guys rain foul magicks on the dryads and treeman I will be facing.

3 Blocks of clanrats with rocks and stuff. Then warpfire and ratlings too. And boiling oil. Roughly 600 pts. (i'm too lazy to write the hole thing)

Loads of common rats to occupy the ramparts.

3 Rat ogres 150 pts

In case anything comes trhough the gates...

3 giant rat packs, all have a oil pot. 150

Not a bad price for oil pourers.

2x5 night runners: oil pourers!

2 x tiny (10) units of monks with banners and stuff - I'll come up with something fun and they'll rip those soft elves apart!

2 WLC

Zap! Do I need to say more?

That's roughly 2k (yes, big siege!).

Nice, but IMO you need more dispel scrolls or magic resistance. I don't know what sort of army has your opponent, but if it's magic heavy, then he will simply eat you in magic phase. This is pain when defending castle, as enemy has twice points more (and therefore can have 3 lords...).
Lack of jezzails may be some pain against treeman. But ratlings and WFTs should do the trick against dryads etc.
edit: Almost forgotten! Think about battle standart bearer! It's vital in siege, as you take break tests on your normal, unmodified Ld.
Write us how this army performed. :)
Good luck!

I think he has tree spirit based army with a dragon... I could take some tunnelers to surprise his archers/mages... hmm... that would be fun...

Ouch... Dragon.
And about tunnelers - nice idea. I'm always trying in siege to have something to get behind enemy lines (to harass machines, prevent marching, kill alone characters etc.) But in case of WE this may be hard as they have many skirmishers.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing dryads with hooks and ropes...
We're gonna take some pictures, so I'll post some after the game...

Oh crap, the other guy who owns the castle was so hung-over we had to cancel the game...

Damnit, I lost! I blame the dragon and the dice. But I think I did quite well - the dragon and the rider was left alive with only one wound. Also my tunnelers wreaked quite a havoc amidst the archers...

But anyway - great work wounding that dragon. Do you have any pictures from that battle?

Very nice piece of ruins. :) Good work. This is VC castle or I'm wrong?
Thank you for posting pictures of castle. Now I'm looking forward to see your army defending it.
Greetings!

I think it's a ruined Bret castle. The guy who made it plays Woodies and Beasts so that's why he wanted it to have that overgrown and pillaged look. I have been unable to make contact with the guy so it might take even a week to get some pics!
