we had an interesting rule last night that isnt clear. Well two actually.

1. If you have combat in initiative order, and then strike first with a unit, but remove enough of the enemy unit so that a character now comes into base contact that wasnt previously in base contact that has a higher initiative. What happens?
Do they now strike because it is relevant for them to but they go next, or do they lose out because it's already past their strike order?
I suspect the former, but it isnt clear.

2. If you are assaulting a building and there are, say, 20 models in it. You choose ten to fight. The rules say that ten will always get to fight as any slain are replaced by others that step up to replace them, assuming that there are enough left (so if you had thirteen models, chose your ten and then lost six, you would only get seven attacks back as that's all that's left).
BUT, what happens if there are 20 models in the building, 10 are chosen to fight, and then the assaulting party does 20 wounds that are unsaved. Is the unit in the building wiped out, or can you only kill a maximum of 10 because that's how many are fighting, and so those 10 take all the excess wounds themselves and are then replaced by the remaining 10?

1. The strike order is strict, from highest to lowest. If the character initiative's "turn" has passed, he can't attack because his turn to attack has passed.

2. No maximum kills. You kill 20 models. The only limit is the quantity of models who can attack and the bonus for combat resolution (standards, ranks, etc)

1. Nothing. If he wasn't in combat and wanted to be, he should have made way at the top of the round. If he was in combat (with another unit, say) then he ought to have hit them at his I step already. Finally if he wasn't in combat but deliberately stayed out (due to being a wizard, or a rt, or a rat wizard or whatever) then he missed his chance.

2. Think of it more like having a unit with a ten-model wide ranks except the rear ranks can't make support attacks; they're 'in combat' but can't fight directly. The reasons you need to choose which ten fight are in case, as above, you have characters you want in combat, and also because a unit in a building has no facing or other structure and, therefore, no way to figure out who's in BtB just by looking.
