Having decided to take the plunge and get in on the Zombicide Season 2 Kickstarter, I promised myself I would have to get some more models painted up and off my desk before then. In honour of the return of The Walking Dead and Tabletop Day happening at the end of March, I figured what better time to get my box of LNOE out and painted.

For those of you who don't know, Last Night on Earth is a zombie survival horror game for 2-6 players where players take the role of either zombies or survivors and the survivors have to complete certain tasks depending on the scenario which can range from "Kill 15 zombies" to "Fuel a car and get at least 2 heroes to escape in it" before sundown.

It was also featured in episode 15 of Will Wheaton and Felicia Day's excellent series "Tabletop" which you can watch here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhLU2-BuhMI

I'll be trying to do this as quick and easy paintjobs, but knowing me I'll get distracted by fun details so we'll have to see how this goes.

I've done a test zombie so far and am about to start the main painting but still not too sure on the bases. Due to the game rules I'll be splitting the zombies into two teams - red and blue, so that when playing with the full six players, the zombie players can tell their zombies apart. As I'm sure you can guess, the test zombie is from the red team;

A lovely hawaiian shirt zombie for you all (see what I mean about getting distracted by details?).

More updates to come, C&C always welcome, and please let me know if you have any suggestions as to how to do the bases.

the game sounds really fun! What are you going to use for the getaway car?

the hawaiian shirt for the test zombie model is really cool. The poor guy was just holidaying eh?

The game is a lot of fun, if you get the chance to check it out please do! I hadn't considered modelling the car to be honest, was just gonna use the little cardboard tokens but if I see a decent truck in the right scale at poundland I might pick it up now...

Not much in the way of an update today I'm afraid, I'm ill and trying to get a new job and some other models done for my tales (excuses I know), but I'll try and get something up over the weekend!

Cool! I was actually gearing up to get a copy of LNOE a couple of months ago but for some reason it was out of stock at both my local store and every swedish online retailer I checked. Then I got severely hooked on Zombicide instead... How does the gameplay compare?

I really like the hawaiian shirt, very ambitious and with good execution as well. I do think his skintone might be a bit too human still, and I would probably apply a thin wash do get more contrast in the recesses and the folds in the fabric. I can highly recommend Army painters Strong tone, or just Devlan mud or Agrax Earthshade. Both darkens and adds a slight brownish dirty look which goes really well with zombies.

ahhh... get well soon, mate and best of luck with the job. I will certainly check out the game if I can find it...

Quick teaser update for you before I go to work, got a new zombie finished and some WIP shots of the first survivors;

Thanks for all the kind words, and full update to come hopefully tomorrow!

Ok full update/replies time!

Other three sides of my tracksuit wearing zombie:

Mould Line? What mould line? :shifty:

Overall really happy with how she came out, the blond hair came out a lot better than the hawaiian shirt guy, much more realistic.

And a group shot with some WIP survivors - Sheriff Anderson and his son Billy

Hopefully the skin tones are sufficiently different for dead/alive folks, but I may have to do another wash over the dead folks to make sure.

Hope you like, as always C&C much appreciated!

Your putting some impressive effort into those zombies. Dare I ask how many there are in this board game? :p btw, you should join the tale of board game painters, might help you keep up enthusiasm and complete it before zombiecide season 2 arrives.

@Azendral - Just realised I forgot to reply to you, so apologies! I haven't actually played Zombicide yet as I'm just getting into it with season 2, but the gameplay is a lot of fun, and easy to pick up and play. I've managed to talk my girlfriend into playing it a few times and she enjoyed it too. As she is a fierce non-gamer, I feel this is pretty high praise for it!

@Herebedragons - Thankfully there's only 14, so I don't feel too bad putting so much effort into a few of them. I did think about ToBGP but decided two tales is enough for me at the moment, once these finish I may join with either the rest of these or zombicide/something else.

@juicytomatoes - Haha, I couldn't resist!
