View Full Version : Ultramarines on Medusa V

23-05-2006, 20:25
Well here's a blog to encourage me to get my ultras ready for the summer.

First here's two completed models:

Assault sarge:

Venerable Dreadnaught (In need of some banners and Parchments but finished for the moment):

And a WIP of my Chaplain Conversion. He's pretty basic, but If he starts winning a few fights I may upgrade him to a nicer model:

Currently In progress:
5 Devastators at final paint stage
5 veterans at starting paint stage
Captain at starting paint stage
5 veterans at conversion stage
8 Tacticals at conversion stage

I will get more pictures as I progress, and some more of my finished models. Comments on the models currently on show is appreciated.

So glad I didn't have to reply to myself.

Thanks for the complements everyone, especially hamani: my progect brief was to try and make ultras people that don't like ultras like. If that makes sense.

More pics later tonight.

all looks nice. possibly the assualt sarg. could do with a little les black, as he looks quite dark. which company is this mainly based on?

24-05-2006, 16:04
This is the glorious fifth company of the ultramarines, hence the large amount of blackness. The blue is also slightly darker than in the pics that I had to take with a flash.

24-05-2006, 17:05
ooh that explains. i see your point. if it was second, i would have laughed at you for your lack of company judgement. anyway....

Far too many of these replies are from me, but then I did promise more pictures.

For anyone that cares, they are gonna be based and need a bit more "sprucing" up. I didn't realise how flawed they were till I took this photograph.

I really like the black&yellow stripes. I really prefer darker Ultramarines, nice job. I'd like to see them based...
Oh, and I know the feeling about being the only one posting in your own log...

Looking good :) the Assault marines look cool ,the black and yellow strips work well ,will you be adding any tanks to your list ?

24-05-2006, 21:16
Looking good so far, keep going... and keep posting ;)

24-05-2006, 21:28
FYI: If those marines were any darker I might confuse them with crimson fists.

25-05-2006, 00:02
Erm, not quite sure how you can as Crimson Fists are much much darker navy blue whereas these guys still have their royal blue colour.

Looking good! look forward to seeing the chaplain finished.

@deadley: I'm torn between adding a pred or another tac squad. At the mement the Pred seams to be winning just because It'll be easier to get finished.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I'll try and put some WIP pics up tonight.

Its a bumpdate!

Captain Galenus without any paint:

Veteran conversion. Done because I didn't want two vets the same. Plus mark IV is the coolest armour ever. Maybe not, but its easy to do.

Some tacticals converted to add some variation, plus my infiltrating veterans heavy bolter dude, Done so it looks lighter and moe infiltratish.

consider the "chainsword HB-grip"-idea stolen :)

EDIT: chainsword instead of chainsaw... aaah, exams and staying up late is not good for the brain...

26-05-2006, 14:55
@Cheatah: You're more than welcome to it. I stole it from someone else.

And now its update time:

Tactical squad 4, with their original bolter toting sergeant and their new powerfist toting sergeant. The bolter toter will be renegated to the devastator squad once I get another tac marine painted.

Tactical squad 5, the obligatory six man laz/plas squad. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/ZAChos/MV/tac61.jpg) I didn't really want to take one of these, but in the end I had a lazcannon and a plasma gun so thought I may as well.

The whole army (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/ZAChos/MV/WholearmyWIP.jpg), Including WIP squads. I've got a scout squad, a predator and a few other bits to do, but this is what I could be bothered to fit into the picture.

What you think?

26-05-2006, 16:50
With the min/maxed squad, it's not the codex way! IMHO I think Lascannons are better placed in devastater squads with 3 Missile Launchers. The ML's for the anti-infantry/anti-tank and the Lascannon for anti-hero/antitank.

The chaplain has moved on a bit scince we last met:

What do we think? I've almost finished the bone, but these pictures have highlighted the need for a bit more doings in that department.

As for the min/max squad, I'll try out the devatator idea, but it is fluffy for me to have six man squads as the fifth contains several due to heavy casualties.

Very nice, I like how dark they are, very characterful.
