In your opinion do you think a daemon with daemonic flight need to have wings?

If not, how would you model it?

this popped up in a conversation when talking about the Tzeentch daemon that appears in the HH novel thousand sons. It is just described as a snake.

Daemons have always been described as flying by force of will. They have no need of Wings. They literally bend (and often break) the rules of physics around themselves.

Levitation, sitting on a cloud, wrapped in fire that carries the body aloft? Take your pick. These are daemons after all, it's not like the rules of reality apply to them.

Superman-pose is all you need to fly when you are a daemon. :D

The sky is the limit on how you model it. However, I think it would be best if the flyingness of the model is apperent from looking at it. Having a fat ball-like Nurgle daemon (like the old GuO) which can hide behind a terminator also suddenly flying around might make your opponent a bit sad. Just putting wings on it would probably help.
On the other hand, a long slender snake-like daemon, sort of like Haku in Spirited Away (http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQQGFmnWKBszMS9-_VZibYhlKQnoB4-O_0ZrpowR-pSW0qYdiXv) might work just as well, without wings.

I think it's all in the pose. Make it look like it's flying and you don't need wings.

Or you could have the daemon peeking out of a sheet of cloth being carried in the beak of a bird (http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQv4G8jNTj8xR3xDX49XSoUdWQM4x11t uKwVZlyfMJctzPPy0U8).

You could use Cherubael to represent a levitating Daemon, assuming you're talking something monstrous creature sized.
