My VI Legion force has been knocking around for a while, although this guy is a new edition:

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd141/jannerxi/HH/IMG_0829_zps7852f116.jpg

However, my main reason for starting this is my new Death Guard army.

This guy was the test paint:

First up, a unit of twenty Tacticals:

The base coat is Rakarth Flesh and Castellan Green with Army Painter Weapon Bronze for the metal bits. This then gets a wash of Agrax Earthshade with a little watered down Reikland Fleshshade in places. I also use some Nuln Oil on the metal bits of the shoulder pads and the collar. Make sure you get into all the nooks and crannies with the first coat of Rakarth, as the washes will run off any bare resin. I suggest doing the base coat on the sprue and touching it up once you've assembled the figure.

Next I dapple on the Rakarth Flesh again with smaller dapples in White Scar.

The white metal is just Ironbreaker washed and touched up again and the bolter is Mechanicus Standard Grey with a Nuln Oil Wash.

The bases are just black painted sand, dry brushed with Mournfang, then Baneblade and then Rakarth.

Hope that helps :)

Many thanks Durfast!

Since you mention Army Painter, and are quite the painter and thus knowledgeable, would I be destroying my models using the army painter 'bone' primer colour?

I've not tried the white, although i bought one last week for some Hobbit-style Goblins. I will try it out once it stops snowing and I can spray in the garden! I use Army Painter sprays because I live in Denmark and they are readily available. They are fine, if a little thicker than GW. So i suggest test spraying a spare figure first :D

Mate you do know that you live in Århus, and have access to some cool shops that carry other, cheaper and better brands of aerosol paint, right? ;) Try giving Montana's gold series a try, it's available from http://www.runforcover.dk/ which happen to have a shop in Århus, and a can is around 30-40 dkr. and it's great, I've used it several times on minis, both regular GW and FW stuff.

Death Guard 2: "Repaint? REPAINT!? What are you, Death Guard or Emperors Children? Repaint indeed..."

BTW love the battle damage :p

Awesome marshall, is that supposed to ba an archotech pistol or plasma pistol (whatever it is I like it)? and what are you using him as rules wise?

It's my crack at a Volkite Serpenta. Pending a FW release, I cut down a Caliver to make a pistol.

Thanks for the kind words :)

As per the text above the picture - Marshal Durak Rask, Siegemaster of the Death Guard, is a character from the Death of Isstvan III campaign in the FW Betrayal book.

Ah right, haven't got round to buying that book, £70 that could go towards a bronze sword, despite my desire for HH rules.

Next twenty Death Guard Tactical marines base painted, assembled and ready to receive some washes. Well, after I've touched up a chip I've just noticed on one of the guys at the front *::)

169800

Yes, there are two vexilla in there. In truth the first twenty were actually the first halves of seperate squads with subtle differences in the decals.

These, then, will make up the second half to each twenty man Tactical squad.

Looking good... well actually they're not, but I've seen what you can do with washes and weathering :p Nice posing though, and considerably neater looking tham my usual basecoat.

The termis and the dread look great. Usually I'm not a big fan of heavily weathered armies, but this one has been pulled off perfectly. I cant wait to see more.

Thanks Pyromancer, the next batch might test your patience though. The destroyer squad will be very heavily weathered ;)
