"From darkness I cry for you
the tears you shed for us
are the blood of Elven kind
O Isha
Here I stand
on the last shore
a sword in my hand
Ulthuan shall never fall!"

Hello one and all!

I'm pretty excited for the upcoming High Elf update so have feverishly begun painting up a small force of High Elves with which to hopefully put the new book through its paces. I lose motivation very quickly when it comes to painting and I've yet to actually ever finish painting a whole army. I'm hoping this plog and your comments and criticisms will help keep me motivated.

So I'm going for a Caledorian theme, what with Caledor being the most martial and war-like of the Elven provinces. Here's a couple of WIP shots to show you what I'm currently working on and to give you an idea of my paint scheme:

You've got me interested. That's some pretty horses.

Those white horses are great! And the green is a nice contrasting colours, and moreover well painted ! I hope you'll keep your motivation to finish this army.

Very nice. Really like the the olors and the basing you have done on the chariot. Keep up the great work and I will be watching with great interest.

Love the paint scheme, dark greens work really well against white on the High Elves.

You 've got some really crisp painting going on. Beautiful clean style. Looking forward to seeing some finished models!

To not finish this army with that skills in painting would be an insult to us all! Check my blog if you need a target for a fully painted HE force and keep up your amazing work!

Ooooh, yummy. Nice start. Please post more.

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. This isn't my first attempt at a High Elf army, with my previous attempt I had a different colour scheme in mind, but I find I get bored of painting the same old colours over and over again, which is why I've never managed to finish a whole army. Here are a unit of archers I painted up under my old scheme that I would like to incorporate into my new Caledor army.....what do you think? Keep the colours the same or go over the yellow with green?

That unit looks great as is. Unless you want a unified army or think you can do them more justice I wouldnt change a thing :)

The archers look good, I would keep them as they are now and when you have painted the rest of your army you can repaint them if you want.;)

Thanks for the advice. I shall keep them yellow for now and see how they fit into the overall look of the army once it's done. Saves me from painting anymore boring Core at least!

Anyway, Dragon Princes are finished for now. Thought the heads that you get with the kit looked a bit too "spikey" and nasty for High Elves, so swapped them for the dragon helm head from the Noble Kit. Also found the shields that come with the DP kit a bit too small, so swapped them for some shields from the Spearmen kit.

The archer heads are woodelf heads yes ?

Very beautiful work! The small conversions work excellently, and that's some of the best basing i've seen: lots of detail but not over the top. Whats next? Hopefully the warseer community can keep you motivated for this project!

Don't know why but elves look great in green great paint job.

They are indeed! Simple head swap makes the archers look a lot better in my opinion.

Just a quick update....working on a unit of "Seaguard" for my core. I'm using the IoB Seaguard models as Caledorian spearmen, I think the models have a slightly draconian feel to them if remove the shield designs and paint any sea waves as flames! What do you think?

Looking really nice here. I bet you can't wait to get the new HE stuff.

Great work so far! I love your subtle highlights and crisp painting! Keep it up!

wow, this army is so.......pretty! but no nonsense at the same time. that's how High Elves are supposed to look, well done!

Really nice! By the looks archers are not going to get a new kit so the head swap looks perfect IMHO.

Think ill steal that if you don't mind :D

McBoner, I like your collours on the high elfs.
The seaguards are realy good painted and have a very nice collour combo.

Question: What kind of collour base coat do you use?

I really like your scheme, nice and clean. The snow bases feel wrong to me. You have warm colours with the green and orange so perhaps swap the snow for some autumn foliage.
