Hi all,

I love historical minis and in particular Romans. I want to use them in Warhammer fantasy using a themed list. I still want it to be as competitive as possible while still fitting within the theme. Here is what I have (with links to the models I'll be using below each).

Total Roster Cost: 2500

So General and Mounted Priest go in Knight Unit to create a pretty good hammer. Wizard sticks with archers and stays out of trouble, supporting with spells.

BSB goes with Swords which line up deep to create an anvil. Dismounted Warrior Priest goes with Greatswords to make them a decent hammer. They line up in Horde formation.

Pistoliers and Archer Detachments move forward to screen against the enemy and in general get in the way.

Fire support provided by Cannons. Hurricanum tries to stay out of trouble and provide bubble to Greatswords, regular swords and hopefully knights.

So, how badly am I going to get beaten without steam tanks/demigryphs/halberds? :D

What a coincidence, 1 week ago I was tinkering about the same idea!

Unless you've already made up your mind using The Empire WoC would also fit the theme. Marauders with light armor, shields and MoT would be perfect as legionares and Warriors would make pretty good Pretorians, in addition Marauder Horsemen feels more right rules wise than Postiliers/Outriders as Equites if you even think on expanding your roman side of the army.

How competitive are your opponents? I think you'll be fine unless they're the top of the internetz cheezerz:)

I am fairly set on Empire just because I already have a WoC army. I know they would work well, but if I'm going to get the models I might as well get an new Army to play out of the deal too.

My opponents are fairly competitive as I mostly do the tournament scene or practice for it. But at my local store we typically won't see total cheese builds (double hydra/unkillable dread lord for instance will most likely instead be one hydra and unkillable hero level).
